The effect of homeopathic preparations on the activity level of Acromyrmex leaf-cutting ants - doi: 10.4025/actasciagron.v34i4.14418 Agronomy

The effect of homeopathic preparations on the activities of the leaf-cutting ants Acromyrmex spp. was studied. A field experiment involving ant nests in six experimental areas was performed using a randomised complete block design. Within each block, every ant nest was considered to represent one repetition. The treatments consisted of the following: Belladonna homeopathic preparations of macerated or triturated Acromyrmex spp. adults, homeopathic preparations of macerated or triturated ant nest fungus (Leucoagaricus gongylophorus) collected from Acromyrmex laticeps and Acromyrmex heyeri nests, a homeopathy Belladonna, and dynamised water. All of the homeopathic treatments were tested at the 30 CH (thirtieth centesimal Hahnemannian) dynamisation. An...

Probiotic in Brycon amazonicus hatchery - doi: 10.4025/actascianimsci.v33i4.11764 Animal Sciences
Dias, Danielle de Carla; Centro de Aquicultura da UNESP - CAUNESP; Corrêa, Camila Fernandes; Polo Regional de Desenvolvimento Sustentável do Vale do Ribeira; Leonardo, Antônio Fernando Gervásio; Polo Regional de Desenvolvimento Sustentável do Vale do Ribeira; Tachibana, Leonardo; Instituto de Pesca; Romagosa, Elizabeth; Instituto de Pesca; Ranzani-Paiva, Maria José Tavares; Instituto de Pesca.
Brycon amazonicus larvae fed with probiotic consisting of Bacillus subtilis, bioencapsulated in Artemia salina at different doses. Six treatments were used: T0 = control (without probiotic), T2.5 = 2.5 g, T5.0 = 5.0 g, T7.5 = 7.5 g, T10.0 = 10.0 g and T12;5 = 12.5 g per liter of probiotic when fed with A. saline (4h before feeding the larvae); and per kilogram of feed (commercial powder with 40% crude protein) in the next phase. The results showed heterogeneity with regard to growth, indicating that larvae fed with probiotic had no influence on cannibalism.

Sunflower cake in the ration of dairy cows: microbial production, production, composition and fatty acid profile of milk - doi: 10.4025/actascianimsci.v33i4.11327 Animal Sciences

The objective of this study was to evaluate the microbial production, production, composition and fatty acids profile of milk from dairy cows fed rations with growing levels of sunflower cake. Eight Girolando cows were used, averaging 515 kg of body weight. The experimental design was a 4 x 4 Latin square, in duplicate, where the factors consisted of the rates of sunflower cake inclusion in the concentrate portion (0, 7, 14 and 21%). A decreasing linear effect was observed for protein and fat production in milk and N urea content. Allantoin rates (mmol day-1) were influenced by the levels of sunflower cake inclusion, with quadratic effect (p < 0.05). Uric acid, total purines, absorbed purines, microbial nitrogen and microbial synthesis were not affected...
