Linné, Carl von. |
Material and drafts for a paper on the species "Arum pictum", which was cultivated at the botanical garden in Uppsala. Contains a description in Latin, probably dating to the same period as the description of 'Erica Sparrmanni' (LM/LF/BOT/2/2/3) as the paper and handwriting are the same. Also contains a pencil drawing, and several drafts and observations in Swedish. Notes on 'Arum cococasia' also included. The paper on 'Arum pictum' was never published, despite the entry in "Supplementum plantarum" referring to a paper in "Act. holm." (p. 410) |

Linné, Carl von. |
Lecture notes about birds, mostly in Swedish, some in Latin. From early youth and later. Probably based on lectures given by Linn. Pat. ff. 1-15: introductory material. ff. 1-12: commentary on the introductory sections on 'Aves' in Linné, Carl von. 1758. "Systema naturae". Stockholm (10th edition), pp. 78-80. ff 14-67: catalogue of birds, from 'Accipitres' to 'Passeres'. Numbers, specific eptithets and classification correspond to Linné, Carl von. 1758. "Systema naturae". Stockholm (10th edition), except for the genera "Manacus" (f. 56) and "Parus pendulinus" (f. 64) which correspond to Linné, Carl von. 1766. "Systema naturae". Vol. 1 Part 1. Stockholm (12th edition). Some older sheets with botanical annotations reused. The latin binomials are... |

Zoological taxonomic determinations of birds, written on loose sheets, with one genus per sheet. No use of binomials, indicating that the notes are closer in date to 1748. The pages do not follow the order of the "Systema naturae" classification. No specific eptithets. Contents: - description of the class of birds, with physical characteristics, behaviour, migration. Such an introduction is not present in the 1748 6th ed, and might therefore be a draft for the one in the 1758 10th edition. - Taxonomic determinations of the following genera: 'Pelecanus', 'Phoenicopterus', 'Anas', 'Mergus', 'Graculus', Colymbus', Alca', 'Larus', 'Fulica', 'Haematopus', 'Charadrius', 'Tringa', 'Numenius', 'Recurvirostra', 'Struthio', 'Casuarius', 'Pavo', 'Otis', 'Crax',... |

Linné, Carl von. |
Notes from Linnaeus pater's zoology lectures, probably given in the late 1750s, just before the publication of Linné, Carl von. 1758. "Systema naturae". Stockholm (10th edition), as binomials are used, but not the same ones as the 1758 "Systema naturae". Some of the specific epithets are different from the ones published in 1758 (see for example f. 2 "Lanius monitor" published as "Lanius Excubitor"). Some numbers correspond to genera numbers in Linné, Carl von. 1746. "Fauna Svecica". Stockholm. Some of the classification is also different from the "Systema naturae" 10th edition (see the genus "Picus", fol. 3, in particular). Possibly two sets of notes, as the handwriting and paper are different. In ink and pencil. One of the set consists of two... |
