Etude des mécanismes de transferts des éléments métalliques dans les chaînes alimentaires aboutissant à l'huître et à la moule, mollusques filtreurs, formes chimiques de stockage, conséquences écotoxicologiques ArchiMer
Amiard, J.c.; Amiard-triquet, C.; Berthet, B.; Gauthier, M.; Gillot, P.; Martoja, R..
The first part of this report describes a field study which took place in the Bay of Bourgneuf during more than two years. In this area, the filterfeeding molluscs show metal concentrations which are generally low compared to those determined in other worldwide sites. In these conditions, the characteristics of bioaccumulation (seasonal and pluri-annual fluctuations) and organo-tropism can be considered, to a large extent, as the consequence of the normal metabolism of trace elements. A statistical analysis of relations between the respiratory type of marine Gram negative bacilli and their resistance to zinc and cadmium, or their ability to concentrate zinc was carried out on 453 strains isolated monthly from seawater and oyster, of the Bay of Bourgneuf...

Influence of the mode of macrofauna-mediated bioturbation on the vertical distribution of living benthic foraminifera: First insight from axial tomodensitometry ArchiMer

We investigated the influence of bioturbation by macrofauna on the vertical distribution of living (stained) benthic foraminifera in marine intertidal sediments. We investigated the links between macrofaunal bioturbation and foraminiferal distribution, by sampling from stations situated on a gradient of perturbation by oyster-farming, which has a major effect on benthic faunal assemblages. Sediment cores were collected on the French Atlantic coast, from three intertidal stations: an oyster farm, an area without oysters but affected by oyster biodeposits, and a control station. Axial tomodensitometry (CT-scan) was used for three-dimensional visualization and two-dimensional analysis of the cores. Biogenic structure volumes were quantified and compared...
