| ABSTRACT This work aimed to investigate the antioxidant capacity of the guava agroindustrial waste as a functional additive in broiler feed to improve the performance and meat quality of boilers. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design, consisting of four treatments and six replicates with 12 birds. Treatments included different levels of guava byproduct in the feed: 0, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5%. We evaluated the performance of broilers at 7 and 21 days old. At 21 days old, two birds from each experimental unit were euthanized for intestine histologic evaluation (duodenum, jejunum, and ileum) and breast and deboned thigh samples were collected for analyzes of pH, colorimetry (L*, a*, and b*), and thiobarbituric reactive substances (TBARS).... |

| Os objetivos deste trabalho foram avaliar o impacto do cultivo do eucalipto, em diferentes idades, e de fitofisionomias de Cerrado sobre os estoques de C orgânico total e de seus compartimentos e verificar qual dessas frações constitui-se em indicador mais sensível às mudanças de uso do solo. | ABSTRACT: In this study the correlation between the clinical score, mast cell count and interleukin 31 (IL-31) immunostaining in the skin of dogs with atopic dermatitis was determined. A total of 31 dogs of different breeds, from one to eight years of age, were chosen for the study. The 20 females and 11 males were categorized based on the CADESI-4 system, as having discrete, moderate or marked atopic dermatitis. | Acacia species have valuable agronomic characteristics, such as the tolerance to unfavorable environmental conditions. In this study, genetic parameters and selection response in Acacia saligna shrubs were investigated in two arid environments of northern Chile: Cuz-Cuz and El Tangue. The quantitative traits were assessed in 5 year-old shrubs. A Bayesian approach, implemented using Gibbs sampling algorithm, was used in the data analysis. The tree survival was 87.3% and 81.8% in Cuz-Cuz and El Tangue, respectively, confirming the potential of A. saligna in northern Chile. | Durante la evaluación genética de 169 familias de medios hermanos de maíz-roseta de granos blancos (Zea mays), en el inicio de un programa de mejoramiento genético (Ciclo I) conducido en el sur de Brasil, se detectaron diferencias significativas (p < 0,01) en la sobrevivencia. | The aim of the study was to assess inbreeding depression and determine genetic components in landrace populations of popcorn. Six Brazilian popcorn landraces: Amarelo, Beija-Flor, Branco, Rosa-claro, Roxo and Viçosa, were subjected to self-pollination. Experiments with SO populations and their selfing populations (SI) were conducted in a randomized complete block design. The estimates of inbreeding depression varied from 1.2% (popping expansion) to 79% (grain yield). The gene action was predominantly additive for plant height, ear height and hundred-grain-weight.
