A textual analysis and scientometric mapping of the dynamic of knowledge in and around the IFSA community Inra

This communication proposes to depict the dynamic of the conceptual area of IFSA, and to bring a support to a discussion about the future of the IFSA community. It presents the results of a textual and scientometric analysis of the descriptors and concepts of the IFSA community. A general view of the knowledge of the community is delivered on the basis of the data mining of the corpus built up with the communications of the 6 previous IFSA Symposia. The empirical study details the key concepts and domains of investigation and their dynamics throughout the previous Symposia. 1. 1. Sterold have been extracted from 3 insects, Calotermes flavicollis, Gryllus domesticus and Apis mellifica, and their characteristics determined by means of mass spectrometer. 2. 2. Cholesterol is the principal sterol of Calotermes and Gryllus. 3. 3. The principal sterol in Apis is 24-methylene cholesterol. 4. 4. The presence of minor sterols is reported.

Les 27 et 28 novembre 2007 s’est tenu à Paris un colloque consacré à la biosécurité des cultures et à l’agroterrorisme (European Crop Biosecurity Workshop), organisé par l’INRA dans le cadre d’un projet financé par l’Union européenne (encadré 1). Nous revenons à cette occasion sur la question des risques liés à l’utilisation volontaire d’agents phytopathogènes, abordée dans un précédent article du Courrier de l’environnement de l’INRA (Suffert, 2002)

Isolation of 24-methylene-cholesterol from honey bees (Apis mellifica L.) National Institute of Agronomic Research

IN connexion with an attempt to isolate pheromone from the queens of the honey bee, Apis mellifica L., an examination was carried out on the neutal portion of the extract obtained by perfusion of the powdered whole-bodies of the queens with ethanol and tert-butanol. By chromatographing the neutral portion on alumina, or silica gel, a crystalline substance, m.p. 138–145° C. [α]D = −31.6 ± 6° (c = 0.39 in chloroform), was obtained, which resembled cholesterol in behaviour and chemical properties. The Liebermann-Burchard reaction gave the same coloration as that obtained with cholesterol and the mixed melting point was the same. However, there were two bands (6.08µ and 11.33µ) in the infra-red spectrum of the substance which are not found in the spectrum of...
