This work studied the effect of production mode (organic versus conventional) and storage conditions on some physical and chemical properties of blueberry from different cultivars, namely Duke, Bluecrop, and Ozarkblue. The physical properties evaluated were caliber, color and texture and the chemical characteristics analyzed were moisture content, total soluble solids and acidity. Furthermore, the effect of storage on these properties was also evaluated. The results showed that blueberries cv. Duke were bigger, with a more intense coloration, and presented a harder and more elastic texture, when compared with the other cultivars at study. With respect to production mode it was found that the blueberries produced in organic farming were not so acid or sweet,... |

Blueberry is a widely consumed fruit with major economic value, appreciated due to its characteristic flavor as well as health benefits. The present work aimed to evaluate the effect of several production factors and storage conditions on some chemical and physical properties of blueberries. Some physical and chemical characteristics (moisture, acidity, sugars, color and texture) of blueberries from three cultivars, originating from five different locations and conventional or organic farming, were evaluated. The variation of the properties along time was also evaluated for storage at room temperature and refrigeration. Moreover, artificial neural network models were developed to estimate the physical-chemical characteristics of the blueberries, as... |

The main objective of this report is to establish well-founded proposals for the design, implementation and responsible management of the comprehensive product “fishing tourism or pesca-toursim”, taking into account its diversity and adaptability to environmental, socioeconomic and cultural impacts. The project seek ed to establish a comprehensive intelligent management system to promote sustainable relationships among the different stakeholders for activities developed in coastal ecosystems. This product of “Fishing-Tourism” may be closely related to protected areas, as it may be intended to show not only the fishing culture but also the natural heritage of the areas involved. This report emphasizes the relevance of stakeholders’ participation... |

This report is focused in adding value to the actual catches by better differentiating them in the market, but also in ways to enhance the market value of off-shore species through innovative strategies like branding. This may alleviate fishing pressure on coastal resources by increasing the value of catches by local fishers, so that they can make a living with less pressure on resources. Consequently, the global objective of this report was to analyse current marketing strategies adopted by SS fishers in order to sell their fish, to understand their challenges and shortcomings, and to explore the possibilities for improving the current situation. The focus of this report will be place in the most relevant fishery in a selection of OR, trying to analyse... |

Shared knowledge on fleets, gears-species and areas of operation, is essential to engage in a platform of exchange on low-impact offshore fishing techniques between fishers and stakeholders from different outermost regions. Information on small scale fisheries in Europe and especially in OR is often heterogeneous and dispersed. That is why it is fundamental to develop a systematic description – status and evolution - of small-scale fisheries in ORs to identify similarities and contrasts between the different ORs, especially in the perspective of fisheries management and more generally best practices. The general objective of the task 2.1.1 was to share knowledge about the status and evolution of small-scale fisheries in ORs according to a common... |

One of the key goals of this report is to compare the fisheries governance systems in the different outermost regions in the context of the Common Fishery Policy (CFP). By fisheries governance systems, we mean the different institutions and the collective action processes by which decision making in fisheries management is established and the different set of laws, rules set for the regulation of the fishing activities. The Common Fishery Policy is often seen as a top-down process and the aim of the task was to identify and compare the role of fisher organizations and regional administration in the management of fisheries resources. Based on a better understanding of how each organization is functioning and which type of competencies such organizations... |

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of different production and conservation factors on some properties of blueberries. Among the production factors considered were cultivar (Duke, Bluecrop and Ozarkblue) and production mode (organic or conventional). Regarding the conservation factors were evaluated temperature (ambient or refrigeration) and storage time (0, 7 and 14 days). The properties under study belong to three categories: physical properties (color and texture); chemical properties (moisture content, sugars and acidity) and phenolic and antioxidant properties (total phenols, anthocyanins, tannins, ABTS antioxidant activity, DPPH antioxidant activity). The results revealed that moisture content was only influenced by cultivar... |
