| In order to comply with the requirements of the second Multiannual Guidance Plan concerning the fishing fleets in the EEC Member Countries, the French Secretary of State for the sea has implemented a decommissionning scheme in March 1991. To facilitate the withdrawal of an overall engine power representing 100000 kW, subsidies have been attributed to owners scaping their boat of selling it outside the EEC or for a purpose other than fishing. In parallel social measures were set to help the resignation or the retirement of skippers. In March 1992 applications concerning 975 vessels representing about 84 300 kW had been presented. | The general study, scheduled from 1984 to 1986, aims at providing a judgement about the fisheries in the Celtic Sea. This area has been chosen because it is frequented by EEC vessels with, for the time being, a large majority of French vessels. Activities there are easier to monitor than anywhere else as coastal fisheries are little developed in the area. The final product will consist of a certain number of hypotheses about the planning strategies that could be implemented in the Celtic Sea. | The aim of this study is to consider the 8ub area VI fishery as a mixed fishery and to try to apply on it methods which allow interactions analysis between fish stocks and different kinds of boats. For that purpose, after gathering all information about this area, three main directions are followed. | A new process of collecting fIat oyster spat in deep water, based on the use of suspended mussel shell, was perfected between 1978 and 1982. The technique has contributed the continued breeding of the species in Quiberon bay (Brittany ) , in spite of the presence of Bonamia ostreae. In order to quantify the number of spat recruited by this technique each year, a method of estimation was tested during the summer 1985. This paper describes the sampling strategy and the results. |
