| Timber from the second cutting cycle may make up the majority of future crop volumetric. However, there are few studies of the physical and mechanical properties of this timber, which are important to support the consolidation of new species. This study aimed to use Artificial Neural Networks to estimate the physical and mechanical properties of wood from the Amazon, based on basic density. The properties were: shrinkage (tangential, radial and volumetric), static bending, parallel and perpendicular to the fiber compression, parallel and transverse to the fibers, Janka hardness, traction, splitting and shear. | O objetivo deste trabalho é realizar uma análise biomecânica das posturas adotadas pelos trabalhadores nas atividades de corte arbóreo em florestas naturais, no Estado do Pará. Para avaliar as posturas dos trabalhadores nas atividades de derrubada, traçamento e destocamento utilizaram-se os métodos OWAS, REBA e de Michigan. Pelo OWAS todas as posturas adotadas exigem medidas corretivas em um futuro próximo. Pelo REBA a atividade de derrubada apresentou situação mais crítica. Pelo modelo biomecânico as articulações dos cotovelos e dos ombros não apresentaram risco de lesão. A força de compressão do disco L5-S1 ultrapassou o valor recomendado na atividade de destocar. |

| Tropical forests account for a quarter of the global carbon storage and a third of the terrestrial productivity. Few studies have teased apart the relative importance of environmental factors and forest attributes for ecosystem functioning, especially for the tropics. This study aims to relate aboveground biomass (AGB) and biomass dynamics (i.e., net biomass productivity and its underlying demographic drivers: biomass recruitment, growth and mortality) to forest attributes (tree diversity, community-mean traits and stand basal area) and environmental conditions (water availability, soil fertility and disturbance). |

| Around 30Mm3 of sawlogs are extracted annually by selective logging of natural production forests in Amazonia, Earth?s most extensive tropical forest. Decisions concerning the management of these production forests will be of major importance for Amazonian forests? fate. To date, no regional assessment of selective logging sustainability supports decision-making. Based on data from 3500 ha of forest inventory plots, our modelling results show that the average periodic harvests of 20m3 ha?1 will not recover by the end of a standard 30 year cutting cycle. | Foram avaliados onze anos de dinâmica da população Pseudopiptadenia psilostachya (timborana) após a exploração em uma área de 18 hectares na fazenda Rio Capim, no município de Paragominas, PA. Os dados foram obtidos em 18 parcelas permanentes de um 1 hectare (100 m x 100 m) cada, em uma Área de Manejo Florestal (AMF), que foram inventariadas em oito ocasiões nas parcelas permanentes: antes da exploração (2004), e após exploração 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 e 2016, considerando os indivíduos com DAP ? 10. | Este trabalho analisou as distribuições diamétricas antes e após intervenções silviculturais em uma área de floresta tropical úmida da Amazônia no estado do Amapá, Brasil. O objetivo consistiu em entender de que modo a distribuição diamétrica da floresta foi recuperada depois dos tratamentos silviculturais entre 1984 e 2011, um intervalo de 27 anos. Para essa finalidade, dados de 40 parcelas permanentes foram utilizados. | Esse estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a estrutura e a dinâmica do grupo de espécies comerciais no assentamento federal Projeto de Desenvolvimento Sustentável Virola ? Jatobá, localizado no município de Anapu (PA), a partir da exploração madeireira de 415 ha de floresta, realizada em 2008, com o intuito de entender a capacidade de regeneração e resiliência dessa floresta nas diferentes condições de uso e propor um plano de manejo adequado.
