A practical inference method with several implicative gradual rules and a fuzzy input : one and two dimensions Inra

A general approach to practical inference with gradual implicative rules and fuzzy inputs is presented. Gradual rules represent constraints restricting outputs of a fuzzy system for each input. They are tailored for interpolative reasoning. Our approach to inference relies on the use of inferential independence. It is based on fuzzy output computation under an interval-valued input. A double decomposition of fuzzy inputs is done in terms of alpha-cuts and in terms of a partitioning of these cuts according to areas where only a few rules apply. The case of one and two dimensional inputs is considered.

L’analyse des données géo-référencées, issues notamment de l’agriculture de précision, nécessite l’agrégation de mesures entachées d’incertitudes et collectées en des lieux et à des résolutions différentes. Or ces données sont souvent trop rares pour justifier leur interpolation sur une grille commune par des méthodes géo-statistiques. Objectif: L'évolution de l'état hydrique de la plante au cours du cycle végétatif est un paramètre important pour la gestion du vignoble et de la qualité de la vendange. Malheureusement, cette mesure fait appel à des dispositifs spécifiques particulièrement contraignants, ce qui limite fortement le nombre de mesures réalisables. La résolution spatiale et temporelle des mesures d'état hydrique est donc généralement faible. Méthode d'inférence générique avec plusieurs règles implicatives et une entrée floue Inra

Cet article propose une méthode générique d’inférence avec des règles implicatives graduelles et des entrées floues. Les règles graduelles permettent de représenterdes contraintes sur un ensemble de possibles et sont très intéressantes pour leur capacité d’interpolation. Nousproposons une méthode d’inférence basée sur la notion de système bien conditionné. Elle s’appuie sur l’inférence à partir d’entrées rectangulaires dont le calcul s’avèresimple. Elle utilise une double décomposition : par a-coupes pour se ramener à des entrées rectangulaires et parpartitionnement de ces coupes en régions rectangulaires où seules deux règles s’appliquent à la fois.

A general approach to practical inference with gradual implicative rules and fuzzy inputs is presented. Gradual rules represent constraints restricting outputs of a fuzzy system for each input. They are tailored for interpolative reasoning. Our approach to inference relies on the use of inferential independence. It is based on fuzzy output computation under an interval-valued input. A double decomposition of fuzzy inputs is done in terms of a-cuts and in terms of a partitioning of these cuts according to areas where only a few rules apply. The case of 1-D and 2-D inputs is considered, as well as higher dimensional cases. An application to H cheese-making process illustrates the approach.

Practical use of fuzzy implicative gradual rules in knowledge representation and comparison with Mamdani rules Inra

Thanks to their ability to model natural language, fuzzy rules are very popular in expert knowledge representation. Mamdani fuzzy systems are widely used for process simulation or control. Nevertheless, fuzzy implicative rules, and especially gradual rules, provide another kind of knowledge representation, which can be very useful in approximate reasoning. In this paper, the two types of rules are compared according to their behavior in some typical situations such as rule interpolation, combination of a specific rule with a more generic one. Spatial extrapolation of the vine (Vitis vinifera L.) water status: a first step towards a spatial prediction model Inra

The goal of this study is to propose a model that allows for spatial extrapolation of the vine water status over a whole field from a single reference site. The precision of the model was tested using data of spatial plant water status from a commercial vineyard block located in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, France. Observations of plant water status were made on 49 sites (three vines per site) on a regular grid at various times in the growing seasons over two non-irrigated fields planted with Shiraz and MourvSdre cultivars. Plant water status was determined by measuring predawn leaf water potential (PLWP). The potential of high spatial resolution information to define within-vineyard zones related to vine water status Inra

The goal of this study was to test the usefulness of high-spatial resolution information provided by airborne imagery and soil electrical properties to define plant water restriction zones within-vineyards. The main contribution of this is to propose a study on a large area representing the regions’ vineyard diversity (different age, different varieties and different soils) located in southern France (Languedoc-Roussillon region, France). Nine non-irrigated plots were selected for this work in 2006 and 2007. Using the OLS algorithm to build interpretable rule bases: an application to a depollution problem Inra

One of the main advantages of fuzzy modelling is the ability to yield interpretable results. Amongst these modeling methods, the OLS algorithm is a mathematically robust technique that allows to induce a fuzzy rule base from a set of training data. It does so by using linear regression to select the most important rules. However, the original OLS algorithm only relies upon numerical accuracy, and doesn't take interpretability matters into account. Thus, we propose some modifications to the original method so that it builds interpretable rule bases.

Les règles implicatives, qui permettent de modéliser des contraintes, restent méconnues. Nous proposons dans cet article des lignes directrices pour la conception pratique de systèmes de règles implicatives : construction de partitions adaptées, interprétation des résultats de l’inférence, coopération de plusieurs systèmes de règles et sémantique. La méthodologie est appliquée à un procédé agroalimentaire.
