The objective of this study to develop a pharmacological protocol cervical dilatation in ewes Santa Ines aimed at collecting embryos transcervical. Multiparous ewes were used (n=30), cyclic, aged 24 and 48 months, with an average weight of 50.7 ± 5.4 kg and body scores between 2.75 and 3.5 (1-5) in design experimental model in "crossover". The study proved the possibility of increasing the cervical transposition rate in ewes Santa Ines with the use of hormonal associations, enabling the collection of embryos transcervical in sheep, avoiding surgery. |

Abstracts: The present study was composed by two experiments aiming to develop a cervical dilation technique for non-surgical access to Santa Inês ewe's uterus. In Experiment 1, thirty ewes underwent four epidural treatments. The three experimental treatments used 2.0mg/kg ketamine. The group receiving this drug alone was denominated KG, whereas other group had ketamine associated with 0.1mg/kg morphine (KM) and KX a third group had ketamine associated with 0.05mg/kg xylazine (KX). Control treatment was 1mL/7.5kg saline solution epidurally (CON). Cervical dilation was evaluated in both experiments by attempting to pass a metal rod through the cervix. In Experiment 2, three different hormonal protocols for cervical dilation were tested in thirty ewes.... |

Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the Color Doppler ultrasound as a substitute for laparoscopy for couting of corpora lutea (CL) in superovulated sheep. Twenty-five nulliparous Santa Ines ewes (11.9 ± 1.1 months old, BCS: 2.8 ± 0.3) were superovulated using the Day 0 protocol concept. For previous wave synchonization, intravaginal progestagen sponges (Progespon®, Zoetis, Campinas-SP, Brazil) were kept for 6 days and on Day 5, 300 IU eCG (Novormon®, Schering Plough, São Paulo, Brazil) and 0.24mg cloprostenol (Estron®, Tecnopec, Sao Paulo, Brazil) were given intramuscularly (IM). Thirty-six hours after sponge removal, 25 µg licerelin was administered IM. The superovulation started 80 hours after sponge removal by the use of 200 mg of FSH/ per ewe... |

Abstract: Oxytocin has been used to promote cervical dilation with the objective to access uterus both in artificial insemination and transcervical embryo recovery in sheep and goats. The objective of this study was to test the effect of two routes of oxytocin administration on nonsurgical embryo recovery efficiency in Santa Inês ewes after induction of synchronous estrus. A total of 46 pluriparous ewes randomly chosen after weaning received intravaginal sponges (60 mg MAP; Progespon®,Syntex, Buenos Aires, Argentina) for six days plus 200 IU eCG (Novormon 5000®, Syntex, Buenos Aires, Argentina) i.m. and 37.5 ?g d-cloprostenol (Prolise®, ARSA S.R.L., Buenos Aires, Argentina) latero-vulvar, 24 h before sponge removal. Estrus was monitored twice daily after... |
