This study aimed to evaluate the superovulatory response under effect of different FSH doses in superovulatory protocols. Santa Inês ewes (n = 24) received an intravaginal progesterone device (CIDR®) on Day 0, which remains until the Day 8. On Day 0 and 8 were also administered 0.125 mg of a synthetic analogue of PGF2? (Sincrocio®). In conclusion, best results in superovulation treatment in ewes were obtained using FSH dose of 100 mg. Higher doses of FSH (133 mg and 200 mg) are not indicated. |

Abstract: This study was designed to evaluate the effect of different doses of 17Beta-estradiol injection at the beginning of the progesterone (P4) protocol on follicular wave emergence in ewes. In conclusion, the 17Beta-estradiol injection at the beginning of the progesterone (P4) protocol is able to synchronize the emergence of a new follicular wave, which occurred earlier in females treated with the lowest dose of the drug (ie. 350 g of the 17Beta-estradiol). |

High variability in superovulatory responses and the occurrence of premature luteal regression in donor animals are the major drawbacks of mutiple ovulation and embryo transfer (MOET) programs in sheep. These conditions may be caused in part by the high doses of exogenous FSH used in superovulatory protocols [1]. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of various superovulatory porcine FSH (pFSH, Folltropin®-V) doses on the ovarian responses in ewes. |
