The species of the genus Passiflora (Passifloraceae family) have been used as food, cosmetic and traditional herbal. As a result, the Passiflora species are widely cultivated and has an economic, medicinal and ornamental importance. The popular designation as ?passion fruit? and chemical profile of several Passiflora species remains unknown. The lack of chemical information contributes to the erroneous classification and adulteration. In recent years, special attention has been paid to the bioactivity and phytochemical profiles of several Passiflora species extracts. In this research, 1H NMR-based metabolic profiling coupled with chemometric tools was used to characterize and distinguish extracts obtained from different wild Passiflora species (P. alata,... |

The traditional method of propagating Etlingera elatior (Jack) R.M. Sm. promotes the proliferation of pathogens, reducing the quality of its output. However, as an alternative, one can use in vitro culture, making it possible to obtain plants free of pathogens on a large scale. Moreover, inoculation of plants with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) can be critical to ensure greater survival and development of these plants under ex vitro conditions. Thus, the present study examined the effect of AMF inoculation (Gigaspora albida and Claroideoglomus etunicatum) on success in the establishment and development of E. elatior on the acclimatization phase. Plants were inoculated with G. albida, C. etunicatum or MIX (both AMF isolates) and after cultivation in a... |

The objective of this work was to assess the potential of three isolates of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi to promote growth of micropropagated plantlets of Tapeinochilos ananassae during acclimatization. The experiment was carried out in greenhouse, in a completely randomized block design, with four inoculation treatments: non-inoculated control and plants inoculated with Glomus etunicatum, Acaulospora longula or Gigaspora albida, with ten replicates. After 90 days, the following parameters were evaluated: survival rate, height, leaf and tiller number, leaf area, fresh and dry biomass, contents of macro- and micronutrients in the root and shoot, glomerospore number, and mycorrhizal colonization. The survival percentage was 100%, except for plants inoculated... |
