Se registraron 8 especies: Lucilia cluvia (Walker), Lucilia sericata (Meigen), Lucilia sp., Chrysomya megacephala (Fabricius), Chrysomya albiceps (Wiedemann), Chrysomya putoria (Wiedemann), Paralucilia pseudolyrcea (Mello) y...

Calliphoridae (Diptera) from Southeastern Argentinean Patagonia: Species Composition and Abundance Rev. Soc. Entomol. Argent.
Schnack,Juan A.; Mariluis,Juan C..
Species composition and spatial and temporal numerical trends of blow flies (Diptera, Calliphoridae) species from three southeastern Patagonia localities: Río Grande (53° 48' S, 67° 36' W) (province of Tierra del Fuego), Río Gallegos (51° 34' S, 69° 14' W) and Puerto Santa Cruz (50° 04' S, 68° 27' W) (province de Santa Cruz) were studied during November, December (1997), and January and February (1998). Results showed remarkable differences of overall fly abundance and species relative importance at every sampling site; nevertheless, they shared a poor species representation (S £ 6). The cosmopolitan Calliphora vicina Robineau-Desvoidy, the nearly worldwide Lucilia sericata (Meigen), and the native Compsomyiops fulvicrura (Robineau-Desvoidy) prevailed over...

Calliphoridae (Diptera) from wild, suburban, and urban sites at three Southeast Patagonian localities: Calliphoridae (Diptera) de ambientes no habitados, suburbanos y urbanos en tres localidades del sudeste patagónico Rev. Soc. Entomol. Argent.
Mariluis,Juan C.; Schnack,Juan A.; Mulieri,Pablo P.; Patitucci,Luciano D..
Species composition, relative abundance, sex ratio and habitat preference of blowflies (Diptera: Calliphoridae) from Caleta Olivia, Puerto Deseado, and Puerto San Julián (Santa Cruz Province, Argentina) were studied during late spring and summer in 2004-2005. Results showed a higher prevalence of the exotic species, Calliphora vicina (Robineau-Desvoidy) and Phaenicia sericata (Meigen) at urban sites over the natives, Compsomyops fulvicrura (Robineau-Desvoidy) and Sarconesia chlorogaster (Wiedemann), which shows a strong preference for those sampling sites either not inhabited or less influenced by human activities. Sex ratio was female biased for all species, except for Sarconesia chlorogaster, which exhibited a male prevalence over females.

Patitucci,Luciano D.; Mulieri,Pablo R.; Domínguez,M. Cecilia; Mariluis,Juan C.; Schnack,Juan A..

Status of the forensically important genus Ophyra (Diptera: Muscidae) in Argentina Rev. Soc. Entomol. Argent.
Patitucci,Luciano D.; Mulieri,Pablo R.; Oliva,Adriana; Mariluis,Juan C..
The genus Ophyra Robineau-Desvoidy is a necrophagous group of Muscidae distributed in warm climates worldwide. The information here presented is based on the compilation of distributional data obtained from material of different collections and bibliography for Argentina. Ophyra albuquerquei Lopes, Ophyra capensis (Wiedemann), Ophyra chalcogaster (Wiedemann) and Ophyra solitaria Albuquerque were recorded for the first time for the country. A key for the Argentinean species is presented. Biological and forensic data of species are discussed.

Olea,Sofía M.; Mariluis,Juan C..
The genus Calliphora Robineau-Desvoidy 1830 is currently represented by only 6 species in the Neotropical Region of which 3 are present in Argentina. In this work, we report for the first time the presence of Calliphora lopesi Mello 1962 in Argentina, and we present an updated distribution of the species of the genus. We provide a key to the identification of the species present in the country.
