In Europe, late blight, caused by Phytophthora infestans, is the most devastating disease affecting organic (and conventional) potato production. Under suitable environmental conditions the disease can spread rapidly and it can cause complete crop loss. The extent of damage due to late blight depends on several factors: in organic production systems these factors include climate, choice of variety, soil management and use of crop protection agents such as copper. Bygbladplet udvikler med års mellemrum kraftige angreb i modtagelige sorter, som kan give op til 30-40% udbyttetab. - Svampen er udsædsbåren, ligesom den smitter via halmrester, vinterbyg og spildkornsplanter af byg. - Udsædsbåren bygbladplet kan medføre kraftige bladangreb senere på sæsonen. - Kornpartier med over 15% angrebne kerner bør ikke bruges ubejdset som udsæd. - Bygbladplet fremmes af fugtige forhold, men kan godt udvikle sig alene som følge af dug om natten. Optimale temperaturer for svampen er 15-25° C. - Især i vårbyg varierer sorternes modtagelighed over for bygbladplet. Seed-borne net blotch is a threat to organic barley seed production in Denmark because it often exceeds the recommended 15% contamination threshold in barley seed lots. This threatens the supply of organic barley growers with organically produced healthy barley seeds. The ORGSEED project aims at quantifying the links between initial seed contamination, primary seedling infection, disease severity during the growing season, yield parameters and new contamination of the harvested grains to improve decision support for handling net blotch contaminations in organic barley- and barley seed production. Resistance against leaf stripe (Pyrenophora graminea ) have been described in the literature, but only little is known about the resistance in modern varieties. Investigations have been started in co-operation with Danish breeders with the objective to ensure availability of healthy seed for pesticide-free and organic growing of cereals. The results so far show great variation in susceptibility to leaf stripe. Most of the tested varieties or lines were susceptible, but some varieties had a moderate level of resistance and a few were highly resistant. The test have been made with different populations collected from Denmark but only little is known about the virulence pattern in leaf stripe. |

Det økologiske projekt ORGSEED har givet ny viden om skadetærsklerne for de vigtigste udsædsbårne sygdomme i korn og ærter. I projektets sidste del vil disse tærskelværdier blive vurderet med henblik på justering. Sammenholdt med nye metoder til bestemmelse af den faktiske forekomst af udsædsbårne sygdomme, vil det give en mere sikker karakterisering af den økologiske såsæd og hermed mindre unødig kassation. |

Effektiv og systematisk bejdsning af størstedelen af den danske såsæd har medført, at alvorlige og tabsgivende frøbårne sygdomme har været holdt på et meget lavt niveau. En stor del af sædekornet (85-90%) bejdses i dag, mens bejdsning af andre afgrøder varierer en del afhængig af den aktuelle forekomst af sygdomme. Det samlede forbrug af bejdsemidler (fungicider og insekticider ) ligger i størrelsesordenen 80-110 t virksomt stof ( i 1994 11-12 % af det samlede fungicid og insekticidforbrug eller omkring 3 % af det samlede pesticidforbrug). Sygdommene er, trods denne systematiske indsats, ikke udryddet, men kun holdt på et lavt niveau.
