| Proline-rich oligopeptides (PROs) are a large family which comprises the bradykinin-potentiating peptides (BPPs). They inhibit the activity of the angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE) and have a typical pyroglutamyl (Pyr)/proline-rich structure at the N- and C-terminus, respectively. Furthermore, PROs decrease blood pressure in animals. In the present study, the isolation and biological characterization of a novel vasoactive BPP isolated from the skin secretion of the frog Brachycephalus ephippium is described. This new PRO, termed BPP-Brachy, has the primary structure WPPPKVSP and the amidated form termed BPPBrachyNH2 inhibits efficiently ACE in rat serum. | O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar as taxas de ovulação e gestação, após o uso de dispositivos intraginais de progesterona (CIDR) 6, 9 e 12 dias, em cabras em anestro. Os animais (n=51) utilizados, foram distribuídos homogeneamente em dois grupos. Cada grupo era composto or 3 tratamentos , T1 o CIDR permaneceu por seis dias; T2 nove dias com o CIDR e T3 seis dias com o CIDR. As cabras receberam uma dose de 10 mg de dinoprost no dia de inserção do implante e 200 IU de eCG 24 horas antes da retirada do CIDR. As fêmeas no G1 foram cobertas naturalmente e no G2 as fêmeas foram inseminadas em tempo fixo. O período entre o início do estro e a ovulação no G1 foi de 23,3 ± 4,08 horas e de 15,47 ± 4,08 horas no G2. A percentagem de animais que ovularam foi de 100%... |

| Payments for Ecosystem Services (PES) focusing on water have expanded in Brazil from the Water Producer Program of the Water National Agency (ANA). This study aimed at mapping and verifying the status of water PES in Brazil from 2011 to 2014 and to identify the commonalities among projects related to the opportunities and challenges ahead. Data were provided by the TNC NGO, the Water Producer Program and Oasis Project websites, references available and others. PES mapping was done in ArcGIS10 software. We verified that, of the 42 projects identified in 2011, most remained in 2014 at a more advanced status. However, five were interrupted, three were finalized and eight were unable to be updated. | RESUMO - Comparou-se a quantidade relativa de transcritos de origem materna entre oócitos bovinos maturados in vivo e maturados em diferentes condições in vitro. Avaliou-se também o efeito dos sistemas de maturação in vitro sobre a viabilidade das células do cumulus. Para a maturação in vivo, os oócitos foram coletados 19-20h após aplicação de gonadorelina em doadoras superestimuladas com FSH e sincronizadas com implante de progesterona. Para a maturação in vitro, oócitos imaturos, obtidos de ovários coletados em matadouro, foram maturados sob diferentes tensões de oxigênio e suplementação proteica.
