The authors studied the effects of calving time, season and time elapsed after calving on milk production of the Holstein Friesian Breed of the "Escola Superior de Agricultura "Luiz de Queiroz" (Piracicaba, Brasil), 180 lactation periods of 300 days were studied, with 15 calvings in each month. Statistical analysis of the data proved : 1. That calving in May, June, July or August, that is, in the driest months, the cows give a milk production 17,3% larger than calving in December, January, February, March or April.
