rs5888 variant of SCARB1 gene is a possible susceptibility factor for age-related macular degeneration Inra
Zerbib, J.; Seddon, J.M.; Richard, F.; Reynolds, R.; Levéziel, N.; Benlian, P.; Borel, P.; Feingold, J.; Munnich, A.; Soubrane, G.; Kaplan, J.; Rozet, J.M.; Souied, E.H..
Major genetic factors for age-related macular degeneration (AMD) have recently been identified as susceptibility risk factors, including variants in the CFH gene and the ARMS2 LOC387715/HTRA1locus. Our purpose was to perform a case-control studyin two populations among individuals who did not carry risk variants for CFHY402H and LOC387715 A69S (ARMS2), called‘‘study’’ individuals, in order to identify new genetic risk factors. Based on a candidate gene approach, we analyzed SNPrs5888 of the SCARB1 gene, coding for SRBI, which is involved in the lipid and lutein pathways. This study was conducted ina French series of 1241 AMD patients and 297 controls, and in a North American series of 1257 patients with advanced AMDand 1732 controls. Among these...

The genus Elaphomyces (Ascomycota, Eurotiales): a ribosomal DNA-based phylogeny and revised systematics of European ‘deer truffles’ Naturalis
Paz, A.; Bellanger, J.-M.; Lavoise, C.; Molia, A.; Ławrynowicz, M.; Larsson, E.; Ibarguren, I.O.; Jeppson, M.; Læssøe, T.; Sauve, M.; Richard, F.; Moreau, P.-A..
Elaphomyces (‘deer truffles’) is one of the most important ectomycorrhizal fungal genera in temperate and subarctic forest ecosystems, but also one of the least documented in public databases. The current systematics are mainly based on macromorphology, and is not significantly different from that proposed by Vittadini (1831). Within the 49 species recognised worldwide, 23 were originally described from Europe and 17 of these were described before the 20th century. Moreover, very recent phylogenetic treatments of the genus are mainly based on a few extra-European species and most common European species are still poorly documented. Based on an extensive taxonomic sampling mainly made in the biogeographically rich Cantabrian area (Spain), complemented with...
