As matas de galeria são formações florestais que ocupam cerca de 10% da área dos cerrados e representam 1/3 da diversidade de espécies arbóreas ali encontradas. Estudos recentes têm demonstrado a importância dessas florestas em regiões do Brasil central, mas pouco se sabe sobre a fisiologia e plasticidade de espécies de mata de galeria em relação a variantes ambientais, como a irradiação solar. The genus Tabebuia is representative of the Cerrado biome, occurring in savanna and forest formations. These vegetation types are associated with distinct environmental conditions in terms of water availability, microclimate and soil properties. We compared morphological and physiological traits between Tabebuia aurea (Silva Manso) Benth. & Hook. f. ex S. Moore, which is typical of the savanna vegetation, and T. impetiginosa (Mart. ex DC.) The cotyledons of Hymenaea courbaril store large amounts of xyloglucan, a cell wall polysaccharide that is believed to serve as storage for the period of seedling establishment. During storage mobilisation, xyloglucan seems to be degraded by a continuous process that starts right after radicle protrusion and follows up to the establishment of photosynthesis. Here we show evidence that events related to the hydrolases activities and production (α-xylosidase, β-galactosidase, β-glucosidase and xyloglucan endo-β-transglucosilase) as well as auxin, showed changes that follow the diurnal cycle. A vegetação de cerrado no Estado de São Paulo sobrevive em poucas áreas naturais remanescentes cuja flora, exceto pelas espécies arbóreas, é pouco conhecida. O presente estudo teve como objetivo caracterizar a flora fanerogâmica não-arbórea das diferentes fisionomias da vegetação (campo úmido, cerrado sensu stricto, cerradão e mata ciliar) na Estação Ecológica de Assis (22°33'65" e 22°36'68" S e 50°22'29" e 50°23'00" W), Estado de São Paulo, Brasil, e compará-la a outras áreas de cerrado no estado, para verificar possíveis endemismos ou a presença de espécies raras, que mereçam providências especiais de manejo para sua conservação. ABSTRACT Evergreen (EG) and deciduous (DEC) species exhibit distinct strategies to overcome dry periods and achieve adequate water status for reproduction and growth. Such particularities may result in distinct reproductive strategies between these groups. Thus, we evaluated the phenology of EG and DEC groups, comparing and differentiating their reproductive phenophases in an area of Brazilian savanna (cerrado sensu stricto), located in Mirador State Park, Maranhão State, by associating these patterns with leaf fall and flushing. Gochnatia is very common in different phytophysiognomies in the Cerrado of São Paulo State, occupying open and closed areas. In this study, we compared the leaf anatomy and some ecophysiological traits of two species of Gochnatia, one a shrub (Gochnatia barrosii Cabrera) and the other a tree (Gochnatia polymorpha (Less.) Cabrera), which both occur in an area of "cerradão" at the Estação Ecológica de Assis, SP. We found qualitative structural differences between the species, with G. barrosii presenting amphistomatic leaves with a uniseriate epidermis and G. polymorpha showing hypostomatic leaves and a multiple epidermis or hypodermis on the adaxial surface.
