Boosting predictive ability of tropical maize hybrids via genotype-by-environment interaction under multivariate GBLUP models. Repositório Alice
KRAUSE, M. D.; DIAS, K. O. das G.; SANTOS, J. P. R. dos; OLIVEIRA, A. A. de; GUIMARAES, L. J. M.; PASTINA, M. M.; MARGARIDO, G. R. A.; GARCIA, A. A. F..
Genomic selection has been implemented in several plant and animal breeding programs and it has proven to improve efficiency and maximize genetic gains. Phenotypic data of grain yield was measured in 147 maize (Zea mays L.) singlecross hybrids at 12 environments. Single-cross hybrids genotypes were inferred based on their parents (inbred lines) via single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers obtained from genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS). Factor analytic multiplicative genomic best linear unbiased prediction (GBLUP) models, in the framework of multienvironment trials, were used to predict grain yield performance of unobserved tropical maize single-cross hybrids. Predictions were performed for two situations: untested hybrids (CV1), and hybrids evaluated in...

Genomic Selection with Allele Dosage in Panicum maximum Jacq. Repositório Alice
LARA, L. A. de C.; SANTOS, M. F.; JANK, L.; CHIARI, L.; VILELA, M. de M.; AMADEU, R. R.; SANTOS, J. P. R. dos; SILVA, F. G. da; ZENG, Z.-B.; GARCIA, A. A. F..
Genomic selection is an efficient approach to get shorter breeding cycles in recurrent selection programs and greater genetic gains with selection of superior individuals. Despite advances in genotyping techniques, genetic studies for polyploid species have been limited to a rough approximation of studies in diploid species. The major challenge is to distinguish the different types of heterozygotes present in polyploid populations. In this work, we evaluated different genomic prediction models applied to a recurrent selection population of 530 genotypes of Panicum maximum, an autotetraploid forage grass. We ,also investigated the effect of the allele dosage in the prediction, i.e., considering tetraploid (GS-TD) or diploid (GS-DD) allele dosage. A...
