The application ofS-ABA enantiomer to clusters of poor pigmentation cultivarscan improve grape color. The aim of this study was to assess whetherS-ABA applied toclusters of the new hybrid ?BRS Melodia? seedless grape can improve its colorcharacteristics and to evaluate the consumer acceptance. The following treatments wereevaluated: Control;S-ABA at 200 mg·LL17 days after veraison (DAV);S-ABA at 400mg·LL17 DAV;S-ABA at 200 mg·LL17 DAV+200 mg·LL121 DAV; andS-ABA at 400mg·LL17 DAV+400 mg·LL121 DAV. To apply the treatments, clusters were sprayedusing a backpack sprayer until runoff. The exogenous application ofS-ABA significantlyimproves the color of berries of ?BRS Melodia? seedless grape, particularly at aconcentration of 400 mg·LL1in two applications, at 7... |

In colored table grapes, the anthocyanin contents are inhibited by the high temperature during ripening and berries suffer a lack of skin color, thus affecting their market value. In order to overcome this issue, a research study was planned to evaluate the influence of (S)-cis-abscisic acid (S-ABA) on rates of anthocyanin accumulation in table grapes when applied at different timings of ripening, and to quantify the gradual increase of berry color. The study was conducted in a commercial vineyard of ?Benitaka? table grapes (Vitis vinifera L.), grown under double annual cropping system in a subtropical area. The trials were carried out during two consecutive seasons (i.e., summer season of 2015 and off-season of 2016). The treatments used for the... |

The berry-cluster thinning technique was evaluated at different phenological times to prevent bunch compactness of ?Black Star? table grape, a new somatic mutation of ?Brasil? grape. The trial was carried out during 2012 and 2013 seaons in a vineyard situated in Marialva, PR, Brazil. Vines were trained in an overhead trellis system and spaced at 3x4m. The randomized block design was used as a statistical model with five replications and five treatments. The following treatments were evaluated: control; brushing prior to anthesis; and berry-cluster thinning at different times, when berries were 3-6, 7-10, or 11-15mm in diameter. The prevalence of bunch compactness was evaluated considering the levels: loose, medium loose, and dense bunches. The main... |

Determining the harvest date of table grapes is very important to achieve high-quality bunches with adequate soluble solids content, low titratable acidity, and high concentrations of polyphenols. Table grape consumption has increased worldwide due to its phenolic compound content and its beneficial effects on human health. Thus, this study aimed to characterize the phenolic ripening of ?BRS Vitoria? seedless table grapes at different ripening stages using HPLC?DAD?ESI-MS/MS. For this purpose, a trial was carried out during 2016 in a commercial vineyard of ?BRS Vitoria? seedless grape located in Marialva, state of Parana (Southern Brazil). Berry samples were assessed weekly, starting at v ́eraison until full ripeness. At each ripening stage, the... |

"Italia" grape is one of the most important table grape cultivars grown worldwide. Gray mold, caused by Botrytis cinerea Pers. Fr., is one of the most important causes of postharvest decay of table grapes, and the control of this disease is very difficult because postharvest treatments with synthetic fungicides are not allowed in many countries. The objective of this study was to compare different types of pads releasing different doses of SO2 during cold storage to control gray mold in "Italia" table grapes grown under subtropical conditions. Grape bunches were harvested from a commercial field trained on an overhead trellis located at Cambira, state of Parana (PR), South Brazil. The grapes were packed into carton boxes (capacity, 4.5 kg) and subjected to... |

?BRS Isis? is a new hybrid seedless table grape tolerant to downy mildew with a goodadaptation to the tropical and subtropical climates. Gray mold, caused byBotrytis cinereaPers. ex Fr.is known as the most important postharvest mold in table grapes, causing extensive losses worldwide. As the postharvest behavior of ?BRS Isis? is still unknown, the objective of this work was to evaluatethe postharvest preservation andB. cinereamold control of this new grape cultivar, grown under thedouble-cropping a year system. Grape bunches were purchased from a field of ?BRS Isis? seedlesstable grapes trained on overhead trellises located at Marialva, state of Parana (South Brazil). "BRS Vitoria" (Vitis spp.) is a novel hybrid seedless table grape recommended for cultivation in tropical and subtropical areas, especially for overseas export. The main postharvest disease of this cultivar is botrytis or gray mold (Botrytis cinerea), which occurs even under low temperatures in cold chambers. Sulfur dioxide (SO2) release pads have been used to control this disease under cold storage, but some grape cultivars are sensitive to certain levels of this compound. The objective of this work was to evaluate different types of SO2 generator pads in order to prevent the incidence of gray mold of "BRS Vitoria" seedless grape, as well to avoid other grape injuries during cold storage. Grape bunches were harvested when fully ripened (16◦Brix)... |

"BRS Isis"is a new colored seedless table grape tolerant to downy mildew, the main vine disease in subtropicalhumid areas. This new seedless cultivar is an interspecific hybrid from the crossing of CNPUV 681-29 [Arkansas1976 × CNPUV 147-3 ("White Niagara"×"Venus")] ×"BRS Linda". However, its performance under subtropicalconditions hasn ́t been assessed yet, especially under double annual cropping system. For this purpose, a re-search was designed with the objective to characterize the phenology and the main physicochemical propertiesof this new cultivar. The trial was carried out in a commercial vineyard of?BRS Isis?seedless grape from 2-year-old vines grafted on?IAC 766 Campinas?rootstock, located in Marialva, state of Paraná (PR), Brazil, in... |
