Bioactive compounds of juices from two Brazilian grape cultivars. Repositório Alice
SILVA, J. K.; CAZARIN, C. B. B.; CORREA, L. C.; BATISTA, A. G.; FURLAN, C. P. B; BIASOTO, A. C. T.; PEREIRA, G. E.; CAMARGO, A. C. de; MARÓSTICA JUNIORA, M. R..
Grape juice consumption may prevent several chronic diseases owing to the presence of phenolic compounds, which have an important role in the reduction of oxidative stress. This study investigated the polyphenol content and antioxidant activities of grape juices from two cultivars: BRS-Cora and Isabella. Total polyphenol content (TPC), anthocyanins, antioxidant capacity (oxygenradical absorbance capacity, ferric reducing antioxidantpower and1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl), and phenolic profile (high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array and fluorescence detection ? HPLC-DAD-FLD) were determined.

Exploratory analysis of fecal NIR spectra similarity of goats and sheep grazing Brazilian Northeastern rangelands. Repositório Alice
BOMFIM, M. A. D.; BATISTA, A. M. V.; MEDEIROS, A.; MACIEL, M. do V.; SILVA, J. K.; CAVALCANTE, A. C. R.; GALVANI, D. B.; MARTINS, F. E. B.; STEPHEN PRINCE, S..
Abstract: The prediction of the diet quality consumed by goats and sheep grazing in the Caatinga biome is challenging, mainly due to differences in dietary habits and botanical diversity of this biome. The discussion on the use of fistulated animals by ethics committees reduced the research in this area, despite its great economic and social importance. The fecal NIRS technology can be used to monitoring the diet quality without affecting animal welfare, but requires that a representative database is built. If models developed for goats could be used for sheep and vice versa, it will reduce the number of experiments to build such models. This experiment was carried out a classification analysis as a first approximation to evaluate the possibility of using...

Exploratory data assessment of fecal NIRS from small ruminants: toward a global model to Brazilian Northeastern rangelands. Repositório Alice
BOMFIM, M. A. D.; MEDEIROS, A. N.; BATISTA, A. M. V.; SILVA, J. K.; MACIEL, M. do V.; CAVALCANTE, A. C. R.; GALVANI, D. B.; SANTOS, S. F. dos; ANGERER, J..
Abstract: The nutrition of grazing ruminants on Brazilian Northeastern rangelands (Caatinga) is challenging. The Fecal NIR spectrum shows high linearity with dietary nutrients of grazing ruminants. However, it requires a database variability wide enough to encompass all field condition. Many species from Caatinga have been identified as endemical, may acting as a link points, raising the possibility to build a global model. This work is a first approximation to evaluate the feasibility to develop a global model of fecal NIRS to small ruminants on Brazilian Caatinga. In conclusion, fecal NIR global model from Brazilian rangelands seems be potentially feasible, depending on how wide is the botanical composition of the area and when the samples are obtained,...
