Comparison of taper functions for different ages and thinning regimes in Pinus oocarpa plantations PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Machado, Sebastião do Amaral; Urbano, Edilson; Conceição, Marcio Barbosa da; Figueiredo Filho, Afonso; Figueiredo, Décio José de.
The present research work aimed to test several taper models and to select the one of the best adjustment. The used data, belonging to Duraflora S. A. Located in the county of Agudos, State of São Paulo, is composed of 1100 trees of Pinus oocarpa distributed in 11 management regimes. The adjusted models were: Polinomial of the 5th degree, Polinomial of 2nd degree, Polynomial of Fractionary power, beside the models of volume ratio from Amateis & Burkhart, and the one from Clutter. The selection of the best model was based on a “ ranking “ with the determination coefficient (R2) and the standard error of estimate in percentage (Syx%) and posterior graphic analysis of the stem profile to detect the model that provided diameter estimates more acurated...

Comparison of volume estimate methods for Pinus oocarpa at different ages and thinning regimes PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Machado, Sebastião do Amaral; Urbano, Edilson; Conceição, Marcio Barbosa da.
This research aims to compare stem volumes of P. oocarpa obtained by the methods of Smalian, form factor, volume equation and taper function. The used data came from 1100 trees distributed in 11 management regimes,  belonging to Duraflora S. A. , Agudos - SP. The trees were cubed and calculated theirs volumes, outside and inside  bark, for the mentioned methods. It was used the Test of  Bartlett and variance analysis for the comparison of  means. The variance analysis showed that significant  difference doesn’t exist among the methods for the 11  management regimes outside and inside bark at the level  of 95 % of probability.

Modeling the individual height and volume of two integrated crop-livestock-forest systems of Eucalyptus spp. in the Brazilian Savannah Agronomy
Abrantes, Karen Keli Barbosa; Paiva, Luísa Melville; Almeida, Roberto Giolo de; Urbano, Edilson; Ferreira, André Dominghetti; Mazucheli, Josmar.
The aim of this study was to model the individual height and volume of eucalyptus wood in two integrated crop-livestock-forest systems (ICLF1 and ICLF2) in Campo Grande, a city in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Classic nonlinear growth models were adjusted for height (Logistic, Gompertz, Richards, Weibull, Van Bertalanffy, Brody, Mitscherlich, and Chapman and Richards) and volume (Shumacher-hall nonlinear, Takata, Honner, Logistic, Gompertz, and Weibull) in two structural arrangements: ICLF1, with a spacing of 14 x 2 m and density of 357 trees ha-1, and ICLF2, with a spacing of 22 x 2 m and density of 227 trees ha-1. Diameter at Breast Height (DBH) measurements were performed in 100% of trees, with measurements of the total height of some...

Studies of Quantitative Relationships Among Dendrometric Variables and Carbon Contents for Native Mimosa scabrella Stands in the Curitiba Metropolitan Region PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Machado, Sebastião do Amaral; Urbano, Edilson; Jarschel, Barbara; Teo, Saulo Jorge; Figura, Marco Aurélio; Silva, Luis César Rodrigues da.
This research aimed to determine dry weights and carbon contents by age, and by compartment of Mimosa scabrella trees, their correlations with other measured tree variables. The data for this research work came from 190 trees located in several counties of the Curitiba metropolitan region. Total height, crow height, stem height, DBH and crow diameter were measured of each one of the 190 trees. Every sample tree was felled down and sectioned in the following components: stem, thick branches (diameter ≥ 4 cm), thin branches (diameter < 4 cm), foliage, and dead branches. The green weigth of each tree component was weighted in the field. Small sub samples of each tree component were also weighted in the field and brought to the laboratory for oven dry. Thus...
