| A partir d'une étude de données historiques de température pour l'Altantique intertropical, les variations saisonnières de la structure thermique des couches superficielles sont étudiées en utilisant une série de Fourier limitée aux termes annuel et semi-annuel. Ceci conduit à une bonne représentation des variations observées, et permet d'étendre au large, ce qui était connu à la côte dans le Golfe de Guinée (alternances dans l'année d'une grande et d'une petite saisons chaudes marines). En outre, ceci conduit à mettre en évidence des contrastes très marqués des variations saisonnières à la fois dans le sens méridien et dans le sens zonal, et de préciser la climatologie marine de ce secteur de l'océan. | Bien que les connaissances accumulées sur les thonidés de l'Atlantique tropical Est soient très importantes, la dynamique spatio-temporelle de la ressource reste encore mal connue. Ne disposant pas de résultats de marquages en nombre suffisant, on ne peut pas utiliser des méthodes directes pour étudier les migrations. On aborde donc la dynamique des thonidés, en s'appuyant sur les statistiques de pêche, par deux méthodes originales, l'une reposant sur les équations fondamentales de la dynamique des populations marines, l'autre sur une approche intelligence artificielle. | The Western Tropical Pacific is thought to be an important zone for generating El Nino : reflections at the boundary make it a potential source region of Equatorial Kelvin waves. Calculations of the effect of a gappy Western boundary on the reflection process are carried out in the framework of the low frequency limit of the shallow water equations and are highly idealized. The method is also applied to a schematic version of the flow through the Indonesian seas from the Western Pacific to the Indian oceans. The results indicate somestrong sensitivities to the location of the gap and to the structure of the incoming flows. | In order to describe a simple method of estimating maximum sustainable yield (MSY), we first demonstrate that the parameters of the two well-known surplus production models of Schaefer and Fox can be expressed in terms of fishing mortality that yields maximum sustainable yield (FMSY), annual yield and mean biomass. If FMSY is known, or alternatively, is assumed to be some specified function of a known natural mortality rate, it thereby becomes possible to estimate MSY and describe the surplus production function even when the data are limited to one year of estimates for catch and mean biomass. The method is compared to other simple methods for estimating MSY and its potential application is discussed. (Résumé d'auteur) |
