A STUDY OF THE CAUSES LEADING TO THE LIQUIDATION OF AGRICULTURAL ENTERPRISES AgEcon
Kotorman, Annamaria.
The viability of agricultural enterprises is of paramount importance. Their liquidation has harmful effects on broad strata of society. The aim of my research is therefore to analyze the leading causes of liquidation of agricultural enterprises. The research was led on 17 agricultural enterprises. This may help in the prevention and treatment of their insolvency. The research results show that a long-term agricultural production is not sustainable with a low equity capital. For the long-term maintenance it is necessary that the investors establish the enterprise with a capital according to the type of the production. The loan can not replace the entrepreneurs own resources, it is only complementary to it. The owners of agricultural businesses should strive...

Cash flow as an important solvency determinant of agricultural enterprises in the Slovak Republic AgEcon
Gurcik, Lubomir; Miklovicova, Jana; Miklovicova, Silvia.
In this paper deals with the cash flow analysis in agricultural companies in particular regions of the Slovak Republic. At present, from a company’s point of view it is not so important to reach a profit but to have a sufficient cash to keep solvency. On base of column and balance cash flow composition we determine in which areas agricultural companies invested money and what sources they used to finance their activities. Agricultural companies in the Slovak Republic financed their activities particularly from internal sources, however, they used external sources, too. Companies situated in better natural conditions spent more external sources than companies in LFA. The companies used the financial sources in operating and investment activities equally.

The efficiency analysis is supplemented by analyses of incentives for associations' membership and farm characteristics decisive for membership choice. The results imply that political lobbying is the main entry incentive. Commercially-oriented individual farms which employ external workers are more likely to choose association membership, as are agricultural enterprises that specialize in livestock production or preserve a high share of employee ownership. We find that association membership has a significant positive impact on farms' performance, especially...
