A new Neotropical species of Megamelus and the reassignment of Stenocranus maculipes (Hemiptera: Delphacidae) Rev. Soc. Entomol. Argent.
Mariani,Roxana; Sosa,Alejandro J.; de Remes Lenicov,Ana M. M..
We report on two species of Delphacidae from Argentine wetlands, Megamelus nigrifasciatus Mariani & Remes Lenicov sp. nov. and Megamelus maculipes (Berg) comb. nov. The first species was collected from Eryngium sp. (Apiales: Apiaceae) and was described from the brachypters of both sexes. The second one, Stenocranus maculipes (Berg, 1879) collected from Echinodorus grandiflorum (Alismataceae), is proposed as Megamelus maculipes comb.nov. The female macropter holotype is redescribed and the male and female brachypters are described for the first time. Geographic distribution and biological data of both species are reported. The genus Eryngium is cited for the first time as host plant for the genus Megamelus. Additionally, a key is provided to...

Anatomy of the root of eight species of emergent aquatic macrophytes from the upper Paraná river, Paraná State, Brazil floodplain - doi: 10.4025/actascibiolsci.v32i3.5509 Biological Sciences
Marques, Angela Maria Marques Sanches; Universidade Estadual de Maringá; Moscheta, Ismar Sebastião; Universidade Estadual de Maringá.
The upper Paraná River floodplain is characterized by the existence of several aquatic and transitional habitats between the aquatic and terrestrial environment, influencing the presence and distribution of aquatic macrophytes. Samples were taken from different places and permanent slides were prepared for analysis and capture of images with the objective of comparing the anatomy of the roots of eight species of emergent aquatic macrophytes. The species feature uniseriate epidermis with narrow and long cells, cortex composed of uniseriate or biseriate exodermis, with or without thickening, aerenchyma with great gaps, uniseriate endodermis, with or without thickening, continuous or interrupted pericycle, and central cylinder with variable number of xylem...

Essential oil from two populations of Echinodorus grandiflorus (Cham. & Schltdl.) Micheli (Chapéu de couro) Anais da ABC (AABC)
Pimenta,Daniel S.; Figueiredo,Maria Raquel; Kaplan,Maria Auxiliadora C..
Analysis by Gas Chromatography and Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry of the essential oils obtained from leaves of Echinodorus grandiflorus ("Chapéu de couro") from two different populations (Big Leaves and Small Leaves), collected monthly between September 1998 and December 1999 revealed 17 components. Phytol was the major constituent for both populations. The main sesquiterpene representatives are (E)-caryophyllene, alpha-humulene and (E)-nerolidol.
