The aim of this study was to compare the parasite communities in two sympatric host populations, Trachelyopterus coriaceus and Trachelyopterus galeatus, which were caught in tributary of the Amazon River in Brazil. All the specimens of T. galeatus and T. coriaceus were infected by one or more parasites, such as Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, Tripartiella tetramerii, Trichodina nobilis, Cosmetocleithrum striatuli, Contracaecum sp., Cystidicoloides sp., Dadaytremoides parauchenipteri and Gorytocephalus spectabilis. Diversity of parasites in Curimata incompta (Curimatidae), a host from Amazon river system in Brazil. Repositório Alice

This paper is the first study on host-parasite relationship in wild Curimata incompta Vari, 1984 (Curimatidae) from Amazon river system, Northern Brazil. In 40 specimens examined from December 2012 to November 2013, 615,818 parasites were collected, such as Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, Piscinoodinium pilullare, Urocleidoides sp., Posthodiplostomum sp., Gorytocephalus elongorchis and Braga patagonica. The parasites' component community had a low Brillouin diversity (0.16 ± 0.15), a low species richness (3.1 ± 0.7), a low evenness (0.09 ± 0.09) and a high dominance of Berger-Parker (0.96 ± 0.06). This study investigated the community of ectoparasites and endoparasites in Ageneiosus ucayalensis (Auchenipteridae) of a tributary from the Amazon River system, in Northern Brazil. Of 34 fish examined, 100% were parasitized by Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, Cosmetocleithrum bulbocirrus, Demidospermus sp., metacercariae of Genarchella genarchella, Clinostomum marginatum and Herpetodiplostomum sp., Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) belenensis, Cucullanus ageneiosus and larvae of Contracaecum sp. digeneans C. marginatum and Herpetodiplostomum sp. were dominant parasite species, while I. multifiliis was the parasite with higher infection level. O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar a comunidade de parasitos das brânquias de Satanoperca jurupari do Rio Jari, Estado do Amapá, região da Amazônia oriental (Brasil). As brânquias de 100% dos hospedeiros estavam parasitadas por Ichthyophthirius multifiliis (Protozoa), Sciadicleithrum juruparii (Monogenoidea), Genarchella genarchella, Posthodiplostomum sp. (Digenea), Ergasilus coatiarus e Argulus multicolor (Crustacea) e foi coletado um total de 27.043 parasitos. Porém, a dominância foi de I. multifiliis e houve dispersão agregada de parasitos com maior discrepância de S. juruparii e A. multicolor. The topic of bacterial polymicrobial infection, still little studied in fish farming, has been demonstrating to be an important cause of economic losses in aquiculture. The Brazilian national production of Arapaima gigas, Schinz 1822 (pirarucu) in 2014 was around 12 tons. In Brazil, there is little information on the diversity of bacteria in aquatic ecosystems, mainly on the pirarucu microbiota, as well as on the bacteria that cause diseases in this fish of great importance for Brazilian and Amazonian aquaculture. This study was the first investigation on the parasites of Triportheus rotundatus, a Characiformes fish from the Amazon, in Brazil. All the fish collected (100%) in a tributary from the Amazon River system were infected by one or more parasite species. The mean species richness of parasites was 4.9 ± 0.9, the Brillouin index was 0.39 ± 0.16, the evenness was 0.24 ± 0.09 and the Berger-Parker dominance was 0.81 ± 0.13. The present study investigated the fauna of metazoan parasites of a Geophagus proximus population from the lower Tapajós River, in the state of Pará, northern Brazil. A total of 137 monogeneans were collected from the gills of G. proximus , including Sciadicleithrum kritskyi , Sciadicleithrum paranaensis and Sciadicleithrum geophagi , while 119 Raphidascaris (Sprentascaris ) lanfrediae nematodes and 28 metacercariaes of digenea undetermined were collected from the intestine. Hosts harboring four species of parasites were predominant. The parasites had an aggregated dispersion pattern.
