Diaphorina citri is a vector of the bacterial causative agent of Huanglongbing (HLB?=?Citrus greening), a severe disease affecting citrus crops. As there is no known control for HLB, manipulating insect behaviour through deployment of semiochemicals offers a promising opportunity for protecting citrus crops. The behavioural responses of D. citri to plant volatiles, and the identity of these plant volatiles were investigated. Volatiles were collected from host plants Murraya paniculata, Citrus sinensis, C. reshni, C. limettioides, Poncirus trifoliata, and from non-host plants Psidium guajava, Mangifera indica, Anacardium occidentale. Los cítricos mexicanos son de gran importancia económica en Cuitláhuac, Veracruz; entre éstos, el limón Persa es el cultivo de mayor importancia económica debido a que ocupa la mayor superficie de producción y genera mayores divisas para los productores. Abstract Pesticide mixtures are commonly used to reduce production costs in agriculture. However, the consequences of such practice towards target organisms are still unknown in most cases. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effects of combinations of insecticides and one worldwide used acaricide on the control of Diaphorina citri (Asian citrus psyllid). All insecticides alone (lambda-cyhalothrin+thiamethoxam, phosmet, and imidacloprid) and in combination with spirodiclofen were efficient in controlling D. citri (> 80%). No significant effects were found for combinations of lambda-cyhalothrin+thiamethoxam and phosmet insecticides with spirodiclofen. O óleo essencial de Piper aduncum (OEPA) contém dilapiol, comprovadamente eficaz no controle de insetos-praga de diversas culturas. Esta pesquisa teve por objetivo avaliar a eficácia do OEPA em ninfas e adultos de Diaphorina citri (Hemiptera: Psyllidae) em condições laboratoriais e a repelência para adultos. Foram determinadas as concentrações de dilapiol OEPA (69,3%, 79,4%, 85,4% e 99,9%) adicionadas a 0,025% de adjuvante (Silwet®) para serem pulverizadas em Citrus sinensis, avaliando-se a fitotoxidade. As concentrações com baixa e moderada toxidade às plantas de citros foram avaliadas no controle de D. citri. Em ninfas e adultos, a mortalidade foi avaliada 1, 3 e 7 dias após a aplicação. The morphological traits of the female reproductive system of Diaphorina citri were examined in detail. Diaphorina citri has telotrophic ovaries with ovarioles organized as a "bouquet", displaying a rudimentary terminal filament and a syncytial tropharium. The vitellarium carries a single growing oocyte at each maturation cycle, which is connected with the tropharium by a nutritive cord. Morpho-functional changes occur during oocyte development, mainly during mid to late vitellogenesis. Morphological events such as the patency of the follicular cells and the intense traffic of vesicles through para- or intracellular processes, suggest a possible route for endosymbiont invasion of D. citri reproductive tissues. The Asian citrus psyllid, Diaphorina citri (Hemiptera: Psyllidae), is considered an important pest of citrus by its ability to transmit the HLB disease. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the potential of protease inhibitors for the control of this insect. The tests were performed with Murraya paniculata plants. The following aqueous solutions were applied: (1) distilled water (control), (2) Triton X-100 (0.1 m L-1) and (3) cysteine proteinase inhibitor E-64 (0.05 mg mL-1) and Triton X -100 (0.1 mL L-1).
