A utilização de sementes sadias é fundamental para o sucesso de um empreendimento florestal. O objetivo deste trabalho foi identificar e quantificar os fungos associados às sementes de tento (Ormosia sp.) e maranhoto (Phyllanthus nobilis (L. f.) Müll. Arg). Os experimentos foram realizados no Laboratório de Fitopatologia da Embrapa Amazônia Oriental, em Belém, Pará. As sementes testadas foram cedidas pelo Laboratório de Sementes Florestais da Embrapa Amazônia Oriental. Foram analisadas 50 sementes de tento e 50 de maranhoto, originárias de Belterra e Bonito, estado do Pará. The traditional system of collection and storage of Brazil nut compromises seriously the quality of these almonds as it contributes to the high incidence of contaminants, like fungi of the genus Aspergillus, which can produce aflatoxins. In this study, the objective was to evaluate the influence of the storage period in studied conditions, on the physicochemical characteristics and on the microbiological contamination of Brazil nuts. The experimental was designed as completely randomized, considering as treatments the storage period (0 - control, 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 days) with four replicates of 3 kg of Brazil nuts each. For the purpose of acquiring a highly active producer of pectolytic enzymes, there was a probe of isolating 140 species of Aspergillus’s fungi from different substrates (soils, grape malts, grapes, apples and sugar beet shreds). The isolated kinds of fungi were kept on a slant agar surface according to Chapek, with 2% of pectin. Testing was performed on the isolated layers of fungi as to the production of pectinolytic enzymes. The nourishing base used was the synthetic Chapek base with 2% pectin, 2% lactose and 0.7 % (NH4)2HPO4, and a natural base of 1% refuse apple pulp.
