The authors describe their experience with an automated immunohistochemical system applied to canine tissue samples. Twenty human cellular markers specific monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies and two different antigen retrieval methods were used in normal and neoplastic breast tissue, as well as skin samples obtained from female dogs of pure and mixed breeds. The antibodies tested were the most frequently used in human and veterinary medicine studies, employed with diagnostic purposes in breast pathology, as well as in cancer research. El proyecto de investigación se enfocó a mejorar y ampliar un servicio que presta el Campo Experimental Zacatepec del Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Forestales, Agrícolas y Pecuarias (INIFAP) para ofrecer a los productores del estado de Morelos información sobre riesgos fitosanitarios, tanto de enfermedades como de plagas. Se plantearon como objetivos la automatización de los cálculos de riesgos y el modo de divulgar estos riesgos. Se diseñó y desarrolló un sistema de información que procesa la información recabada por la red de estaciones agrometeorológicas (EAM) del estado de Morelos, operada por el INIFAP, y la almacena en estructuras convenientes para su uso por diversas aplicaciones, que incluyen el cálculo de riesgos tanto de enfermedades...

Evaluation of the automated system Vitek2 for identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing of Brazilian Gram-positive cocci strains BJID

Automated instruments offer many advantages for clinical laboratories. Nevertheless, they can have problems identifying and determining susceptibilities of some pathogens. Vitek® 2 (bioMérieux) is an automated system that was recently introduced to Brazil. We evaluated the performance of this equipment for Brazilian isolates that had been characterized using reference identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing methods. Ninety-nine strains of Gram-positive cocci from a local reference center collection were analyzed, consisting of 50 coagulasenegative Staphylococcus (CoNS) and 49 Enterococcus and related species. Lipid formation and γ-linolenic acid production by Mucor circinelloides and Rhizopus sp., grown on vegetable oil BJM

The fungi strains were tested in Bioscreen automated system to select the best nutritional source. Following, shaking submserse cultures were studied in media containing sole carbon or nitrogen source. The growth of these strains improved in media containing vegetable oil, with high concentration of lipids. The high concentration of γ-linolenic acid was obtained with M. circinelloides in culture containing sesame oil.

水稻表現序列標誌(EST)功能分析自動化系統 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]表現序列標幟 (expressed sequence tag, EST) 是cDNA 序列片段,直接研究EST 可 獲取基因表現訊息。透過EST 的功能註解、分類和表現量統計,能瞭解不同cDNA 基 因庫間之基因表現型式的差異性及表現基因的功能類別。現存於公共資料庫的水稻EST 序列數量相當龐大,可作為水稻基因組功能註解的重要資源。但針對這些巨量EST,僅 靠人工是不可能在短時間內完成所有分析與計算。因此,本研究在Linux 伺服器以 MySQL 資料庫管理系統建立本地資料庫,並綜合Perl 和PHP 程式語言之運用,成功研 發了一套完整的水稻EST 功能分析自動化系統,能快速且準確完成EST 功能註解、分 類及表現量統計的全程分析工作,大大提高了工作效率。使用者無須登錄到Linux 分析 平台,只要在Microsoft Window 操作環境下透過網頁瀏覽器,即可直接使用該系統。系 統以Web 界面為基礎所設計的輸入畫面在操作上非常簡便,且分析完成後主動將輸出 結果透過電子郵件寄給使用者。本系統亦可容易地擴展運用到其他物種之EST 功能分析 工作,對分子遺傳實驗室發展EST 分析工作具有重要意義。
