Analyse des ressources et des caractéristiques individuelles du stock d'oursin Paracentrotus lividus (Lamarck, 1816) du territoire 64 ArchiMer

A spatial sampling was carried out for stock assessment of sea urchin P. lividus throughout the Basque coast. A sampling, over the year, was conducted to study the reproductive cycle. This work took place over 2013 and 2014. Reproduction occurs once in spring, between May and August 2014. Among factors affecting the release of eggs, salinity, temperature and hydrodynamics show a significant inter-annual variability in the Basque coast. Thus, the period set in 2014, may fluctuate between years. For the stock, the results showed that 11.85 (+/-0.32) million individuals of harvestable biomass for 724 tones (+/- 137). Stock is spread over the entire surveyed area density and biomass decrease rapidly with depth, individuals are mainly located between 0 and 5 m....

Approche de la capacité trophique d'un écosystème conchylicole ArchiMer

After a short bibliographical study of the different approaches for determination of the trophic capacity of a bay for molluscs culture, the authors, with a global mode, show the relations between the growth performance of the oysters Crassostrea gigas in relation with the cultivated stocks. The volumes of consumed and assimilated food are calculated for the stocks in relation with the incoming volumes of water in the bay and the residence time for neap tide and spring tide. The authors find a decrease of growth rate in relation with the volume of consumed food. When it is above 60% and when the volume of assimilated food is above 20%, there is a large decrease of the growth of oysters.

The primary production (phytoplankton and microphytobenthos) of a coastaL shallow water ecosystem (0.5 m) was investigated in two sandy areas, differing by their wave exposure. The physical and chemical parameters, the functional chlorophyll and pheopigments as well as the primary production were measured monthly, throughout a two-year study. The bivalve Ruditapes decussatus was the dominant species in the sheltered station (RD), whereas Donax trlmcu/us inhabited the other station (DT) which was exposed to the open-sea waves. Between 1980 and 1986, some Arcachon oyster farmers took up breeding the Japanese clam on the foreshore (Robert et Deltreil, 1990). This production was short lived. The steep fall in prices due to economic competition from Spain, Portugal, Italy and Tunisia, predator action such as the trigger fish (Popovsky et al., 1999), added to the significant amount of mortality that occurred in the summer and autumn of 1992 that affected two-thirds of the total stock, led to clam farming being abandoned at the end of the 1980s. In the Arcachon basin, the Japanese clam (Ruditapes philippinarum) population, now natural to the area, has found favourable conditions for development and is expanding rapidly there. This study deals with the colonisation of experimental Porites blocks by epilithic and endolithic algal community in two atoll lagoons and two high-island lagoons in French Polynesia, exposed to different environmental conditions during a 5-year period. A qualitative analysis of the community (cyanobacteria and micro-algae) was carried out, and the relationship between the epilithic and endolithic strata observed. HPLC analysis of chlorophyll pigments was used to quantitatively determine the plant biomass, which was then compared to that of the algal turf of neighbouring reefs. But the available areas for these cultures (areas that have not been allocated to oyster or mussel culture) are those unimmersed with those tide coefficients. Following the development of net protection techniques (1980), Japanese clam Ruditapes philippinarum farms develop in the ponds of Charente-Maritime. The county production for 1984 is about 100 tonnes, for a turnover of 4.5 Million Francs. To this day, farmers cultivating clams in ponds over a full cycle get better growth results during the first year. The size of 24 mm is obtained with a density of 200 individuals per square metre. However, due to the type of water input in ponds and to the limited primary production developing in the latter, it appears that biomasses in farms during the second year should not be greater than 0.5 to 1 kg per m² (30 to 50 clams per m²). Dynamiques des productions et des biomasses des huîtres creuses cultivées (Crassostrea angulata et Crassostrea gigas) dans le bassin de Marennes-Oléron depuis un siècle ArchiMer

The evolution of the production of cupped oysters is estimated on a century (1885-1985) with three different sources of data. The total biomass in culture is calculated from productions by knowing regularly the growing rate and the mortality rate of the populations of oysters. It appears that the efficiencies of the culture (P/B) decrease when the stock increase. The production reaches a plateau maximum of 40 000 tons whereas the stock goes on to growth up to 200 000 tons. This plateau correspond to the maximal capacity of production of the ecosystem limited by the trophic capacities of the bay. La Section Régionale Conchylicole, ainsi que L'Organisation des Producteurs d'huîtres de Marennes Oléron, conscients des avantages qu'apporte cette connaissance, a contractualisé avec le Laboratoire Conchylicole de Poitou Charentes la mise au point de techniques plus rapides, et simplifiées à usage de la profession en ce qui concerne l'évaluation des stocks commercialisables dans la campagne. "In vitro" enrichment experiments on natural populations have been used to determine the nutrients controlling the potential biomass of phytoplancton in the Ebrié coastal lagoon. The limiting nutrients were generally nitrogen, phosphorus and carbon, in this order ; in three cases out of eleven, P and N act simultaneously ; in an extreme eutrophication case, N, P and C were all limiting. No effect was observed following addition of metals, vitamins or chelators. The limitations deduced from the enrichment experiments show a. good agreement with the elementary composition of the external medium ; in waters potentially limited by N alone, the dissolved inorganic nutrients have a N : P ratio lower than 25. Dans un élevage Intensif en claires expérimentales de palourdes japonaises semées à la taille de 28 mm et aux densités de 100, 200 et 300/m2, différentes rations alimentaires de la diatomée Skeletonema costatum. cultivée à partir d'eau salée souterraine, ont été testées de mars à novembre 1988. Pour la densité 100/m2, le taux de croissance n'est pas significativement différent avec des concentrations de pigment dans l'eau injectée comprises entre 31 et 126 µg.l(1) de Chia. L'élaboration d'un modèle de gestion d'un bassin conchylicole nécessite, en particulier, la connaissance de l’évolution des stocks d'huîtres d'une année à l'autre afin d'en apprécier l'influence éventuelle sur le rendement. Le présent travail décrit la méthodologie utilisée et les résultats obtenus au cours de la première estimation du stock d'huîtres Crassostrea gigas en élevage dans le bassin d'Arcachon en 1985. Cette estimation nécessite l'utilisation simultanée de photographies aériennes (évaluation de la surface réellement exploitée ) et de sondages-terrain (évaluation de la biomasse par unité de surface). Afin d ' améliorer la précision des résultats et depuis 1986, quelques modifications ont été apportées à la stratégie d'échantillonnage qui avait été adoptée en 1985 : - prise en compte de la structure en âge de l a population, en différenciant les huîtres âgées de 1 an de celles d'âge supérieur, - traitement séparé des poches et des collecteurs pour l'élevage en sur élevé . Au cours des trois années , le stock d'huîtres en élevage est resté relativement stable : 1985 37 996 t ± 1 970 t précision 5,1% 1986 37 835 t ± 4 196 t précision 11,1% 1987 39 079 t i 3 350 t précision 8,6% avec environ 80% représenté par la culture à plat. Cependant, il est apparu que les différentes variables estimées et leur précision variaient d'une année à l 'autre en liaison...

Estimation de la biomasse d'huîtres non cultivées dans le bassin de Marennes-Oléron ArchiMer

In the Marennes-Oléron oyster culture basin, the cultivated oyster stock shows an unbalanced age distribution: 25 000 to 30 000 tonnes are commercialized each year for a total cultivated biomass of 95 000 tonnes (1993). The biological overexploitation of the basin requires a reduction of the stock in order to get back to productivity rates that are compatible with the restrictions of the oyster market. This study gives an estimated natural deposit biomass of around 3 000 tonnes. An estimate of the abandoned and wild oyster biomass shows that 20 000 tonnes of these animals can be considered as competitors to cultivated oysters. [...].

Estimation de stocks d'huîtres sauvages sur les zones concédées de la partie vendéenne de la Baie de Bourgneuf en 2003 ArchiMer

Au cours des dernières années, les résultats du réseau REMORA montrent un déficit de croissance des huîtres en baie de Bourgneuf par rapport à la moyenne nationale. Ce déficit de croissance s'accentue particulièrement en 2000 et se poursuit en 2002. L'une des hypothèses pouvant être mise en avant pour expliquer les causes de ce manque de croissance est la biomasse accrue des organismes filtreurs cultivés ou non: huîtres, moules, crépidules. Afin d'avoir une vision globale du fonctionnement de l'écosystème de la baie, il est nécessaire d'étudier l'importance relative de ces différents stocks de coquillages. Estimation des biomasses de moules (Mytilus edulis L.) en élevage dans les bouchots du Pertuis Breton - Evolution entre 1988 et 1993 ArchiMer

The biomass of the cultivated mussels has been estimated every year in the Pertuis Breton dulring the period 1988-1993. The method used is first recalled, then the question of the biomass trends during spring -i.e. during the sampling period- is discussed. Based on the results, it appears that the mussel volume starts decreasing in 1990 to reach a minimum in 1991. A slight increase is observed in 1992 but no further improvement in 1993. The factors possibly related to this evolution are finally discussed.

Estimation des stocks de moules dans le Pertuis Breton en 1987 ArchiMer

Une estimation de la biomasse de moules présente sur les bouchots du Pertuis Breton situés au sud de la Sèvre niortalse a été réalisée en 1987 . Le but était de mettre au point une stratégie d'échantillonnage adaptée à ce mode de culture . La méthode utilisée est décrite et une optimisation de l'effort d'échantillonnage réalisée ; elle détermine pour différentes précisions l'effort à consentir. La biomasse étudiée a été estimée à 4 722 tonnes avec une précision de 14 %.
