A new cecidogenous species of many-plumed moth (Alucitidae) associated with Cordiera A. Rich. ex DC. (Rubiaceae) in the Brazilian Cerrado Rev. Bras. Zool.
Moreira,Gilson R.P.; Pereira,Cristiano M.; Becker,Vitor O.; Specht,Alexandre; Gonçalves,Gislene L..
ABSTRACT Larvae of many-plumed moths (Alucitidae), especially in the world-wide genus Alucita Linnaeus, 1758 are known as borers or gall-inducers on flowers, fruits and shoots of a few dicotyledonous families, including Bignoniaceae, Caprifoliaceae and Rubiaceae. However, there is no study available on the biology of the monotypic, Neotropical genus Prymnotomis Meyrick, 1931 except for its original description that was based on a single male, the holotype of Prymnotomis crypsicroca Meyrick, 1931 from Espirito Santo, Brazil. We describe here a second species for this genus, Prymnotomis cecidicola sp. nov. whose larvae induce galls on Cordiera elliptica (Cham.) Kuntze (Rubiaceae), a dioecious plant with dimorphic inflorescences found in the Brazilian...

Characterization of cover crops by NMR spectroscopy: impacts on soil carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus under tillage regimes Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Carvalho,Arminda Moreira de; Marchão,Robélio Leandro; Bustamante,Mercedes Maria da Cunha; Alcântara,Flávia Aparecida de; Coser,Thais Rodrigues.
The objective of this study was to investigate the chemical composition of cover crops by solid-state CPMAS 13C NMR spectroscopy and its effects on carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus in a Typic Acrustox. Cover crops (Crotalaria juncea, Canavalia brasiliensis, Cajanus cajan, Mucuna pruriens and Raphanus sativus) and natural fallow were studied in rotation with maize under conventional and no-tillage regimes. Tissues of Crotalaria juncea, Canavalia brasiliensis, Mucuna pruriens and Raphanus sativus were analyzed using CPMAS 13C NMR spectroscopy. Soil samples were collected at the end of the growing season of the cover crops (September 2002) and during the grain filling period in corn from 0-5 and 5-10 cm layers. Cajanus cajan presented the lowest content of...

Dynamics and distribution of anthropic occupation in the Cerrado of Mato Grosso in the period from 1990 to 2008. Repositório Alice
TRABAQUINI, K.; SILVA, G. B. S. da; FORMAGGIO, A. R.; SHIMABUKURO, Y. E.; GALVÃO, L. S..
The Cerrado biome occupies approximately 2 million square kilometers in the Central portion of Brazil representing 23% of our country’s extension, and it is considered to be one of the hotspots in our Planet, that is, a high-priority area for conservation. However, this biome has become the object of great and accelerated demand for agriculture and cattle ranching activities since the 1970 decade, because it has favorable soils, reliefs, and climatic characteristics. Thus, this work has aimed to study the dynamics of change in spatial distribution of anthropic activities in the Cerrado of Mato Grosso in the period from 1990 to 2008, in order to understand the process of occupation that took place there, and also in order to subsidize policies for...

Effect of storage in overcoming seed dormancy ofAnnona coriacea Mart. seeds Anais da ABC (AABC)
DRESCH,DAIANE M.; SCALON,SILVANA P.Q.; MASETTO,TATHIANA E..
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of pre-treatments on overcoming dormancy of A. coriacea seeds. Seeds were processed and stored in polyethylene bags at temperatures of at -18°C (42% RH), 5°C (34% RH), 15°C (60% RH) and 25°C (34% RH), during 0, 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 days. After storage, seeds were immersed in 350 mg.L−1 gibberellic acid for 144 hours. Sowing was carried out in plastic bags containing Red Latosol + Bioplant®. Moisture content, emergence percentage, emergence speed index, length and dry mass of seedlings, were evaluated. The experimental design was completely randomized in a factorial with four replications of 50 seeds each. The seed storage at 5°C and subsequent immersion in gibberellic acid was efficient to reach high...

Trichoptera Kirby (Insecta) immature fauna from Rio das Almas Basin and Rio Paranã, Goiás State, Brazil, with new records for some genera Biota Neotropica
Barbosa,Felipe Francisco; Godoy,Bruno Spacek; Oliveira,Leandro Gonçalves.
This paper deals with the Trichoptera immature fauna collected in 101 streams in Rio das Almas Basin during August-October 2008 and in Rio Paranã, Iaciara-GO municipality, on August 2003, using kick-nets with 0.025 m² of opening and 2 mm mesh. We record four new genera for Goiás State, expanding records of genera from 33 to 37 and contributing to the Trichoptera fauna knowledge in Central Brazil.
