The Palaearctic species Caenopachys hartigii (Ratzeburg, 1848) has been collected in the National Park of Pollino (S Italy), which is the first exact confirmation for the Italian fauna. A brief nomenclatural history of the genus Caenopachys Foerster, 1862, is given, its status is discussed and it is elevated from synonymy. The type species is re-described and illustrated; a key to both West Palaearctic species is given, and some biological notes are added. |

This article analyses the development of organic agriculture (OA) in Bulgaria. It especially examines the actors, relations, and structures that shape organic sector policies. The Bulgarian case shows that sectorial agricultural policies can originate without the direct representation of farmers. Due to the dominance of consultancy NGOs and academic institutions in the policy network, OA first appeared as a political rather than as an economic or social and agricultural topic. However, this specificity contributed to the weak development of the organic sector in the country. Ultimately, farmers became engaged in the policy network for the benefit of the sector when the EU implemented organic subsidies. The article is based on both qualitative and... |

Foreign fossils originate from Azerbaijan, Greece, Hungary, Namibia and New Zealand. Bulgarian avian fossil and subfossil records in collections outside the country are found in museums in France, Germany, Poland and the United Kingdom. In August 2003 the collection numbered 13,848 bones, two casts and one eggshell representing 349 taxa. Taxonomic composition includes: 22 fossil species, one fossil subspecies, one subfossil species, one subfossil subspecies and at least 160 recent species. This collection became the largest avian... |

The article investigates the land transactions on the sale and rentals markets. In order to explain the processes three new institutional economic theories will be employed: property rights theory, transaction costs theory and agricultural contract theory. First, the article reviews the appropriateness of each theory, and second, results of conducted survey in two regions of Bulgaria with different degrees of land fragmentation.
