'Bordô' grapevines (Vitis labrusca) have great relevance to viticulture due to the quality they can impart to wines and juices. However, this cultivar has high variation in yield, ranging from 6 to 11 t ha-1. The use of clones with superior genetic potential related to scions currently marketed may increase crop profitability and revitalize its cultivation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the agronomical responses of twelve clones of the Bordô cultivar selected over a period of 15 years according to yield and quality. Citric fruits - in natura, as frozen pulp or even as juice - are one of the most important Brazilian exportation products. They are a source of ascorbic acid - a potent antioxidant, and pectin, which is used in the food industry and is an important dietary fiber. This project aims to quantify ascorbic acid and pectin contents in citric fruits, commercial oranges and tangerines, comparing them in sizes and varieties. El presente trabajo comprende la composición y distribución del plancton en las Islas Galápagos. Para el efecto se establecieron 12 estaciones ubicadas en las secciones 83°- 86°-89° y 92°W, realizadas en septiembre del 2011. Se identificaron 71 especies de fitoplancton en muestras de red (50µ). Las diatomeas fueron dominantes y en menor concentración se observaron los Dinoflagelados, Cocolitofóridos, Silicoflagelados, Cianobacterias y Tintínnidos. En las muestras de red se observaron Chaetoceros eibenii, Rhizosolenia imbricata, Thalassiosira subtilis, Proboscia alata y Planktoniella sol características del Frente Ecuatorial en la sección 86°W y 02° sur. This study aimed to survey the benthic macroinvertebrate fauna of a first order stream located in an agricultural area, and to assess the environmental factors involved in the spatial distribution of this community. Invertebrates were gathered in November 2007 at three sampling sites distributed along the Itiz Stream, located in Marialva municipality, Paraná State. At each site, we measured the physical and chemical variables of the water, and then took four samples, using Surber sampler. Functional and technological properties of wheat depend on its chemical composition, which together with structural and microscopic characteristics, define flour quality. The aim of the present study was to characterize four Brazilian wheat cultivars (BRS Louro, BRS Timbauva, BRS Guamirim and BRS Pardela) and their respective flours in order to indicate specific technological applications. Abstract Identifying potential patterns in pirarucu (Arapaima gigas) composition, as a function of the different fish muscle zones (dorse, venter, ventrecha and tail), was the main objective of this research. For such, the different pirarucu muscle zones were evaluated, in order to obtain proximate composition and minerals content. It was also determined amino acids and fatty acids contents in fish muscle. The dorsal, ventral and tail muscle zones presented similar moisture (76.5-78.2%), protein (17.8-18.9%), total lipids (1.0-1.5%) and ash (0.9-1.2%) contents. Abstract This study investigated the physical and chemical composition of three jujube fruits cultivated in China. The objective was to explore the effect of jujube genotype and cultivation districts on the quality of jujube fruits. Results showed significant differences on their physical and chemical composition. The Junzao cultivar contained relatively low level on the total dietary fiber, protein, total sugar, and total titratable acids. Este trabalho analisa a composição e a sazonalidade das espécies de moluscos potenciais hospedeiros intermediários de trematódeos digenéticos, bem como fornece informações a respeito das possíveis infecções por diplostomídeos nesta comunidade, em ambientes lênticos da planície de inundação do alto rio Paraná. Foram coletadas e analisadas dez espécies de moluscos, e houve nítida sazonalidade na densidade e abundância dos moluscos, correlacionada significativamente com a temperatura da água. Os maiores valores observados foram entre os meses de novembro de 2002 a fevereiro de 2003. Apenas Biomphalaria peregrina caracterizou-se como hospedeiro para Diplostomidae, pois nesta espécie foram encontradas 32 cercárias de Hysteromorpha triloba em março de 2003.

During the period 6th - 13th of september 1995, the National Fisheries Institute carried out an oceanographic cruise in the Gulf of Guayaquil area and at the northern ecuadorian coast from 3~'10'S and 00~' latitude to 80~'- 82~'W longitude. During the survey, 22 planktological stations were carried out. Vertical towings in the water colum of 50 m depth were also made, using a net of 55~km. A total of 109 species were identified. High concentrations of diatoms and dinoflagellates were observed along the sampling area. The most common species were Proboscia alata, Rhizosolenia styliformis, Ornithocercus steinu and Ceratium tripos. It was also determined a high fertilitty area (1,3 x 106 cel.m-3). Composición, distribución y abundancia del plancton en sistemas fluviales de la provincia de Los Ríos, Ecuador OceanDocs

La composición, distribución y abundancia de las comunidades planctónicas de los ríos Mocache, Vinces, Babahoyo y el Humedal Abras de Mantequilla (Provincia de Los Ríos) fue analizada durante el 2009. Mensualmente en 29 zonas de pesca se recolectaron muestras para el análisis cualitativo y cuantitativo de fitoplancton, zooplancton e ictioplancton. Se identificaron 139 grupos fitoplanctónicos, 63 de zooplancton y fauna acompañante, así como 16 géneros y ocho especies de larvas de peces. La densidad de fitoplancton osciló entre 27 y 1 476 cel.m-3, mientras que el zooplancton entre 3 y 335 org.m-3 y las larvas de peces entre 2 y 1 026 org.m-3. Composición y abundancia del macrozooplancton e ictioplancton en el Estrecho Bransfield, durante el verano austral 1998 OceanDocs

Durante la realización de la VII Expedición Antártica Ecuatoriana, efectuada entre diciembre de 1997 y marzo de 1998. Se realizó un crucero oceanográfico en el Estrecho Bransfield a bordo del Bae/Orión, colectándose muestras de macrozooplancton obtenidas por arrastres oblicuos con redes tipo bongo de 500μ hasta una profundidad de 300 m. Este estudio se efectuó con el fin de conocer la distribución y composición del macrozooplancton e ictioplancton en el Estrecgo Bransfield.
