As water deficiency becomes a more frequent cause of the reduction in wheat yield levels, the search for donors of drought tolerance to be bred into adapted land races becomes urgent. Drought tolerance has been evaluated by the 13C discrimination method in six land races of emmer wheat (Triticum dicoccum SCHRANK), compared with land races, obsolete cultivars and modern varieties of soft wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). The results of a two-year trial show that most of the genetic resources of emmer wheat, and intermediate land races of wheat are predisposed to drought tolerance. Seed is the basis of food crops, and thus for products in shops, and comes with a long history. Plant breeding is developing rapidly, a fact that raises questions among growers, shopkeepers and consumers. In 2015, for the first time European patents were granted to companies for plant varieties and native plant traits, such as for a tomato variety with more healthy substances and a bell pepper variety that is resistant to pest insects. These patents have caused strong social indignation: the free exchange of seeds and plant material with these advantageous qualities is blocked by these patents. Proportion of landraces in the Czech collection of wheat genetic resources differentiates deeply among wheat species, 4.2 % in bread, 77.6 % in emmer and 80.0 % in einkorn wheat collection. The set of 10 selected emmer wheat landraces has been characterised by high molecular weight glutenin subunits (HMW-GSs), evaluated for 3 years in field trials and described by grain quality parameters. Emmer wheat accessions distinguished considerably in polymorphisms of HMW-GSs. Een belangrijke stap om kennis over zaadvermeerdering en veredeling onder telers in stand te houden is bewustzijn van raskenmerken te bevorderen, dat wil zeggen het bewustzijn dat niet alle rassen voor alle teeltsystemen geschikt zijn. Zo geldt dit met name voor biologische abonnemententelers in Brabant die op zandgrond werken. Groenteveredeling richt zich op grootschalige intensieve teelt op vruchtbare (klei) bodems. Deze rassen zijn steeds minder geschikt voor biologische abonnemententelers. De opzet van dit project was om specifiek met deze Noord‐Brabantse telers van drie gewassen een rassenvergelijking op te zetten (veldsla, boerenkool en rode biet), per gewas vijf rassen, en de kwaliteit gezamenlijk te vergelijken. |

The breeding research of pea (Pisum sativum L.) and faba bean (Vicia faba L.) crops began in 2013 because of priority for these species to be produced organically in Turkey. Organic methods growing bread wheat may have negative effects on the technological value, especially in the case of the crucial crude protein content. The aim of paper is to identify diferences in quality of 8 varieties recomended in conventional or organic conditions in Austria and 2 strains. Obvious effect of year on the quality, set up in statistics, was confirmed for qualitative parametres. The correlation analysis also provides similar figures. Effect of the year in a negative correlation to crude protein content (r=-0,66), whereas in a positive correlation to starch content (r=0,78) and falling number (r=0,86). Ze strany ekologických zemědělců je zájem o pěstování jarních forem pšenice špaldy (Triticum spelta L.), proto jsme zhodnotili agronomicky významné znaky a pekařskou jakost šesti krajových odrůd jarní špaldy. Hodnocené odrůdy byly náchylné k chorobám pšenice a k poléhání. Výnos tvořily délkou klasu a hmotností tisíce zrn. Výnos zrna byl na nižší úrovni, ale hektarový výnos hrubého proteinu byl na stejné úrovni. Předností jarních špald byl vysoký obsah proteinu a mokrého lepku, který však byl slabší a méně bobtnavý. |

Podíl orné půdy stejně jako obilnin v ekologickém zemědělství v České republice je nízký. Z tohoto důvodu nejspíše v dohledné době nebude ustaven oficiální systém testování odrůd pro ekologické systémy hospodaření. Je proto nezbytné vytvořit jednoduchý metodický postup, který umožní otestování odrůd pšenice seté např. na úrovni farmy. Předkládaná metodika definuje ideotyp odrůdy pro ekologické zemědělství. Vlastní metodický postup je rozdělen na čtyři části: morfologické, biologické, hospodářské a jakostní znaky. U každého hodnoceného znaku uživatel nalezne kód, jméno, popis, v kombinaci s významem pro ekologické zemědělství.
