A Regional Decomposition Analysis of CO2 Emissions and Their Evolutions in China AgEcon

CHINA is currently the world largest emitter of energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2). Understanding the driving forces governing CO2 emission levels and their evolutions in China can provide useful information for policy makers who aim to reduce green house gas emissions. Because of policy and historical reasons, considerable regional growth and income disparities exist in China. The regional disparities may influence energy use and CO2 emissions. Therefore, this study is to investigate the driving forces governing CO2 emission levels and their evolutions at regional level in China.

DECOMPOSITION ANALYSIS OF FACTOR COST SHARES: THE CASE OF GREEK AGRICULTURE AgEcon

An alternative version of decomposition analysis, based on factor cost shares rather than input demand functions, is presented and applied to Greek agriculture. Decomposition analysis shows that most of the changes in factor cost shares during the period from 1973 to 1989 are attributed to technical change and factor substitution, while the role of the scale effect is small, except that of fertilizer. The decomposition analysis results are then used to analyze the implications of Greece's fertilizer and feed subsidy removal, which took place in 1990.

La evolucion de la intensidad energetica de la industria vasca entre 1982 y 2001: un analisis de descomposicion AgEcon

En este artículo se utiliza una metodología de descomposición basada en índices para obtener estimaciones cuantificadas de los efectos intersectoriales e intrasectoriales que explican la reducción en un 38% de la intensidad energética de la industria vasca entre 1982 y 2001. Los resultados de la descomposición aditiva de los cambios de la intensidad energética de la industria vasca a nivel de período muestran (1) que dicha reducción se debió principalmente a cambios intrasectoriales y (2) que los cambios intersectoriales apenas contribuyeron a reducir la intensidad energética de la industria vasca.
