Avaliação do sêmen caprino após diluição em diferentes concentrações de Dodecil Sulfato de Sódio (SDS) no diluente tris-gema. Repositório Alice

Resumo: Objetivou-se verificar o efeito da dexametasona sobre o leucograma de oito reprodutores caprinos acometidos pelo Vírus da Artrite Encefalite Caprina (CAEV). O experimento, foi realizado através de três aplicações de dexametasona (0,3 mg/animal) a cada 24 horas (0, 24 e 48 horas). Amostras de sangue foram colhidas logo após cada aplicação e às 72 e 96 horas após a primeira aplicação. Os animais tratados apresentaram monocitopenia após 72 horas da aplicação de dexametasona. Não houve danos colaterais aos animais com três aplicações diárias. Ao contrário das evidências em bovinos, linfopenia, monocitose e eosinopenia não ocorreram. We aimed to evaluate the effects of the barrier agent sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (SCMC) with and without dexamethasone for the prevention of postoperative adhesion formation in a rat model of postoperative peritoneal adhesion. A total of 160 three-month old male and female Wistar rats underwent a laparotomy, and adhesions were induced by ileocecal abrasion. Rats were randomly assigned to 4 groups (n=40 each): group A, untreated; group B, treated with SCMC only; group C1, treated with SCMC + 3 mg dexamethasone, and group C2, treated with SCMC + 8 mg dexamethasone. Resumo: Dentre as enfermidades infecciosas que afetam os caprinos a Artrite-encefalite caprina é a principal doença de origem viral (Vírus da Artrite Encefalite Caprina - CAEV). O CAEV pertence ao gênero Lentivírus dentro da Família Retroviridae, Subfamília Orthoretrovirinae. A fonte de infecção do CAEV são os próprios caprinos infectados e seus fluidos orgânicos, sendo que esta enfermidade tem se demonstrado de difícil controle, devido à falta de informação sobre o grau de comprometimento dos rebanhos, da dificuldade de acesso ao diagnóstico e do desconhecimento do risco de algumas vias de transmissão, como é o caso da contaminação pelas vias reprodutivas. ABSTRACT: This study examined the efficacy of an intravitreal dexamethasone-loaded device for the control of postoperative ocular inflammation in dogs following phacoemulsification. Twenty dogs with bilateral mature senile cataracts were prepared for surgery using routine protocols. A biodegradable poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) copolymer device was inserted through the pars plana into the vitreous chamber immediately before phacoemulsification (device group [DG], n=20). We aimed to evaluate the effects of aerobic exercise training (4 days) and metformin exposure on acute glucose intolerance after dexamethasone treatment in rats. Forty-two adult male Wistar rats (8 weeks old) were divided randomly into four groups: sedentary control (SCT), sedentary dexamethasone-treated (SDX), training dexamethasone-treated (DPE), and dexamethasone and metformin treated group (DMT). Glucose tolerance tests and in situ liver perfusion were undertaken on fasting rats to obtain glucose profiles. Ethanol-induced hypothermia in rats is antagonized by dexamethasone BJMBR
The effect of dexamethasone on ethanol-induced hypothermia was investigated in 3.5-month old male Wistar rats (N = 10 animals per group). The animals were pretreated with dexamethasone (2.0 mg/kg, ip; volume of injection = 1 ml/kg) 15 min before ethanol administration (2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 g/kg, ip; 20% w/v) and the colon temperature was monitored with a digital thermometer 30, 60 and 90 min after ethanol administration. Chronic administration of glucocorticoids induces insulin resistance that is compensated by an increase in p-cell function and mass. Since insulin signaling is involved in the control of p-cell function and mass, we investigated the content of insulin pathway proteins in pancreatic islets. Rats were made insulin resistant by daily administration of dexamethasone (1mg/kg, b.w., i.p.) for 5 consecutive days (DEX), whilst control rats received saline (CTL). The neuroprotective effect of dexamethasone on the irradiated postnatal developing cerebellum of Wistar rat was studied. Seventy-five (day 1 old) neonates were separated into three groups; control group receiving no drug and no irradiation, irradiated group, and irradiated and dexamethasone group in which the dexamethasone was administered one hour before exposure to 5Gray (5Gy) of gamma rays. On complete exposure to the various interventions, the cerebellar tissues of animals from each group on days 5, 9, 14, 21 and 25 were processed for histological and histomorphometric studies. Pharmacological and histopathological study of cyclophosphamide-induced hemorrhagic cystitis - comparison of the effects of dexamethasone and Mesna BJMBR

Chemotherapy with oxazaphosphorines, such as cyclophosphamide (CYP), is often limited by unacceptable urotoxicity. Without uroprotection, hemorrhagic cystitis (HC) becomes dose-limiting. To compare the uroprotective efficacy of classical 2-mercaptoethanesulfonic acid (Mesna) treatment with dexamethasone in CYP-induced HC, male Wistar rats (150-200 g; N = 6 in each group) were treated with saline or Mesna (40 mg/kg, ip) immediately and 4 and 8 h after ip administration of CYP (200 mg/kg). One, 2 or 3 doses of Mesna were replaced with dexamethasone (1 mg/kg, ip). The animals were sacrificed 24 h later.
