Calidad de vida y comunidades biol??gicas : an??lisis del estudio de impacto ambiental del metro en la ciudad de Quito (Actualidad) Buscador Latinoamericano
Aguilar, Cristina; Guerrero, Lorena; L??pez, Eduardo; Rodr??guez, Marcelo; Scarpacci, Mart??n.

Decomposition of European beech (Fagus sylvatica) litter: Combining quality theory and 15N labelling experiments Inra
D'annunzio, R.; Zeller, B.; Nicolas, M.; Dhôte, J.F.; Saint-André, L..
A multi-site and multi-age set of in situ 15N-labelled litter decomposition experiments was carried out in various European beech forests. The sites presented contrasted situations of climate and humus type that were representative of northern Europe temperate forests. 15N-labelled leaf litter was produced by urea spraying in an experimental beech plot, and was used in litter decomposition experiments over a 3–6-year period, depending on the site. Schemes of decomposition covered a wide range of situations, some of them not expected, like high decay rate on Moder humus forms or slow decomposition on Mull humus form. The objectives of this study were to determine how nitrogen release and/or incorporation rates could characterize litter decomposition...

Mixing of propagules from discrete sources at long distance: comparing a dispersal tail to an exponential Inra
Klein, E.K.; Lavigne, C.; Gouyon, P.H..
Background: Rare long distance dispersal events impact the demography and the geneticstructure of populations. When dispersal is modelled via a dispersal kernel, one possiblecharacterisation of long-distance dispersal is given by the shape of the tail of the kernel, i.e. its type of decay. This characteristic is known to directly act on the speed and pattern of colonization, and on the spatial structure of genetic diversity during colonization. In particular, colonization wavesbehave differently depending on whether the kernel decreases faster or slower than an exponential (i.e. is thin-tailed vs. fat-tailed). To interpret and extend published results on the impact of long distancedispersal on the genetic structure of populations, we examine a...

Simulated mechanisms of soil N feedback on the forest CO2 response Inra
Pepper, D.A.; Eliasson, P.E.; McMurtrie, R.E.; Corbeels, M.; Agren, G.I.; Stromgren, M.; Linder, S..
An improved understanding of the response of forest ecosystems to elevated levels of CO2 in the atmosphere is crucial because atmospheric CO2 concentration continues to increase at an accelerating rate and forests are an important sink in the global carbon cycle. Several CO2-enrichment experiments have now been running for more than 10 years, with highly variable short-term results after the first decade. Responses to rising [CO2] over the next few decades will depend on several plant and ecosystem feedbacks that are inadequately understood. In this study, we conduct a sensitivity analysis, within the context of the simulated CO2 response, using a new version of the G’DAY ecosystem model, with an improved decomposition submodel, applied to a...

Spatial distribution of an arthropod community in a pear orchard (southern France) : identification of a hedge effect Inra
Debras, J.F.; Senoussi, R.; Rieux, R.; Buisson, E.; Dutoit, T..
This study analysed specific features of the spatial distribution of a global population of arthropods in anexperimental orchard of pear trees, Pyrus communis (L.), in southern France. Insect fauna was sampled byregular beating of the 210 trees in the experimental orchard from spring to autumn in three consecutiveyears (2004–2006). This orchard, where no chemical treatments had been applied since 2000, is borderedto the north by a mixed hedge, to the south by a cypress hedge of Cupressus sempervirens (L.), and to theeast and west by other crops. Statistical analyses of climatic variables comparing the 3 years showed nodifferences with respect to rainfall, temperature or wind variables during psyllid proliferation periods. However, statistical spatial...

Traceability of slash-and-burn land-use history using optical satellite sensor imagery: a basis for chrono-sequential assessment of ecosystem carbon stock in Laos Inra
Inoue, Y.; Qi, J.; Olioso, A.; Kiyono, Y.; Horie, T.; Asai, H.; Saito, K.; Ochiai, Y.; Shiraiwa, T.; Douangsavanh, L..
This study examined the use of satellite sensor imagery for chronosequential assessment of land use and ecosystem carbon stock in slash-and-burn (S/B) regions of Laos. The segmentation approach was useful because the boundaries of S/B patches are subject to change due to natural or anthropogenic factors. Polygon-based classification using six optical bands of Landsat Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) imagery showed that S/B patches could be discriminated with high accuracy (0.98). Normalized difference spectral indices, NDSI[i, j] = [Rj -Ri ]/[Rj +Ri ], using reflectances Rj and Ri at j and i nm wavelengths for S/B polygons during four consecutive years (1999-2002) showed that NDSI[2215, 830], NDSI[1650, 830] and NDSI[660, 830] ( = the normalized...

Variability of bacterial biofilms of the "Tina" wood vats used in the Ragusano cheese-making process Inra
Licitra, G.; Ogier, J.C.; Parayre, S.; Pediliggieri, C.; Carnemolla, T.M.; Falentin, H.; Madec, M.N.; Carpino, S.; Lortal, S..
Ragusano cheese is a “protected denomination of origin” cheese made in the Hyblean region of Sicily from raw milk using traditional wooden tools, without starter. To explore the Ragusano bacterial ecosystem, molecular fingerprinting was conducted at different times during the ripening and biofilms from the wooden vats called “tinas” were investigated. Raw milks collected at two farm sites, one on the mountain and one atsea level, were processed to produce Ragusano cheese. Raw milk, curd before and after cooking, curd at stretching time (cheese 0 time), and cheese samples (4 and 7 months) were analyzed by PCR-temporal temperature gel electrophoresis (PCR-TTGE) and by classical enumeration microbiology. With the use ofuniversal primers, PCR-TTGE revealed...
