The lack of information about seasonal variation of seminal plasma proteins in goats from Northeast Brazil led us to investigate the protein band distribution throughout the year. The experiment lasted one year (from April 2006 to March 2007) in which 230 semen collections from five adult goats (Capra hircus) were carried out, at ages ranging from 18 to 22 months, weighing 42.0 ± 10.0 kg, belonging to Anglo Nubian breed. A pool of seminal plasma samples from all the animals in each month of the year was submitted to 1D electrophoresis SDS-PAGE, 12.5%. Resumo: Estudos realizados atualmente buscam identificar nos animais domésticos marcadores moleculares proteicos de fertilidade, de modo a contribuir para os programas de melhoramento genético, embora poucos ainda sejam realizados em ovinos deslanados, como os da raça Morada Nova. Portanto, este trabalho teve como objetivo identificar possíveis proteínas seminais relacionadas à fertilidade de ovinos da raça Morada Nova, utilizando-se a técnica de Eletroforese Bidimensional (2DE). Resumo: O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar as atividades antioxidante e antimicrobiana de hidrolisados proteicos de soro de leite obtidos por diferentes proteases (Alcalase e Flavourzyme) e sua mistura (proporção 50:50). Previamente à hidrólise enzimática, o soro de leite foi concentrado por ultrafiltração com membranas cerâmicas tubulares. This study characterized seven Pennisetum purpureum varieties, namely v. Anão, Bajra, Cameroon, Guaçu, Roxo, Taiwan A-144 and Uruckwami, through biochemical analyses, including protein, glucose and fructose contents, and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis using the esterase system, by sampling 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 day-old leaves. The number of nodes per stem and the percentage of bud emergence were also recorded. Variety Taiwan A-144 presented the highest number of nodes per stem and percentage of emerging buds. Protein concentration decreased gradually after 60 days for all varieties, except for Anão. The interaction of proteins with polysaccharides represents a major and challenging topic in glycobiology, since such complexes mediate fundamental biological mechanisms. Abstract Obtaining collagen and hydrolysates from mechanically separated chicken meat residue is an excellent way to add value to this waste. The aims of this study were to obtain collagen hydrolysates from chicken MSM residue using Alcalase® and Flavourzyme® enzymes, as well characterizing the functional, structural and thermal stability properties. The highest degree of hydrolysis was obtained using Alcalase®, 36.11%, while using Flavourzyme® resulted in 12.02%. The DSC analysis of the collagen indicated a denaturation temperature of 46.47 °C. The objective of this work was to characterize 27 potato genotypes, using molecular markers. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, RAPD techniques and isozymes of esterase, phosphoglucomutase and soluble proteins were analyzed in tubers, and isocitrate dehydrogenase, aspartate transaminase, phosphoglucomutase and peroxidase, in leaves. Abstract: The objective of this work was to obtain buffalo milk powder through the process of drying in mini spray dryer, and evaluate its physical, chemical, structural and proteomic features during storage. The buffalo milk was subjected to drying by atomization, air temperature of 140°C inlet. The samples were evaluated at times 0, 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 days of storage.
