Action des chocs thermiques sur le developpement d'Artemia ArchiMer

Heat shocks at 40 degree were delivered to Artemia at the end of embryonic development and at the beginning of postembryonic development and their effects on subsequent development examined. Heat shocks delivered during preemergence development have no effect on subsequent development. Heat shocks delivered to newly hatched nauplii induce anomalies on the morphogenesis of thoracic and genital appendages. The induction of morphological anomalies by thermal conditions prevailing during early larval life makes it easier to integrate the morphological effects previously induced by nutritional conditions imposed to older feeding stages.

Description of amino acid and fatty acid content during initial development of Lophiosilurus alexandri (Siluriformes: Pseudopimelodidae), a carnivorous freshwater catfish Neotropical Ichthyology

ABSTRACT Samples of eggs, newly hatched larvae (NHL), and larvae at the end of the lecithotrophic period (eight days after hatching) (LPL) of Lophiosilurus alexandri were collected to determine the amino acid and fatty acid profiles. Crude protein did not change throughout initial development and the concentration of lipids was highest in NHL. The content of the indispensable amino acids (IAA) isoleucine, leucine, and valine decreased in LPL, while in eggs and NHL they remained high and similar in value. The formation of the limbs, the digestive tract, the nervous system, the sensory and hormonal structures begins in this prawn during the embryonic stage C, according to Richard's definition (1974) and is performed at the stage H. The digestive tract differentiates with a caudo-cephalic gradient. The digestive gland is formed at least partially by vitellophages. The C.N.S. appears with a cephalo-caudal gradient and the regions of the eyestalk are quickly differentiated. The organ of Bellonci and the sensory pore appear independently during the stage F. The first neurosecretory cells are detected in the brain during the stage D.

Electrophysiological measurements and related cytological controls were done on immature and submature oocytes of Homarus gammarus . By chromatography (HPLC) and radio-immunoassays (RIA) it was established that submature oocytes displayed different ecdysteroids. Furthermore, the structure of the stalk (funiculus) for the laid eggs attachment was analyzed. it consisted of the two superimposed vitelline envelopes which were likely modified by the cortical reaction exudate during the fertilization process. In addition, the successive secretory phases, regarding to the embryonic envelopes were evidenced. Finally, the ecdysteroid titers of embryonic stages were measured.

Effects of dissolved mercury on embryogenesis, survival, growth of Mytilus galloprovincialis mussel larvae ArchiMer

The effects of Hg concentrations ranging from 0 (control) to 1024 µg 1-1 upon embryogenesis, survival and growth of Mytilus galloprovincialis mussel larvae were investigated . Embryogenesis was abnormal in 50 % of the individuals at 10µg 1-1. The 48 h LC50 for D-shaped, early umbonate, late umbonate and eyed larvae were 51, 164, 322 and 383 µg 1- 1 respectively. The LC50 was an allometric function of ash-free dry weight with exponent b = 0.60. Larval growth was significantly reduced alter 6 d exposure to 4 µg Hg 1-1 and alter 10 d exposure to 2 µg 1-1. No significant differences in lethal or sublethal sensitivity to Hg were found between M. galloprovincialis and previously studied Crassostrea gigas embryos and larvae. Abstract The ages of parasitoid females and their hosts can have substantial effects on parasitism and parasitoid efficacy. This relationship has been investigated over the last few decades and found to vary among species. To our knowledge, it was virtually unknown for Trichogramma pretiosum wasps that parasitize Anticarsia gemmatalis eggs. Therefore, the influence of parasitoid and host age on the parasitism of T. pretiosum on eggs of A. gemmatalis was here evaluated in three independent bioassays. Effects of Seasonal Changes on In Vitro Developmental Competence of Porcine Oocytes OAK

The aim of this study was to investigate whether seasonal changes affected in vitro developmental competence of porcine oocytes. The relationship between atmospheric temperature and embryonic development of in vitro matured porcine oocytes following intracytoplasmic sperm injection was examined throughout the year. The blastocyst rate (31.1%) in winter (mean atmospheric temperature during December to February: -3.8 C) was significantly higher (P<0.05) than those of other seasons in 2008/2009 (19.7-23.5%; 6.3-17.5 C). The monthly mean blastocyst rates were negatively correlated with the temperatures (r=-0.5944, P<0.05). O presente estudo apresenta o comportamento do gene HER2, a partir do uso da técnica de hibridização cromogênica in situ, em hiperplasias ductais atípicas associadas a carcinomas mamários caninos positivos para HER2. Aparentemente, uma fraca expressão da proteína HER2 foi observada nas hiperplasias ductais atípicas, bem como uma ausência de amplificação do seu gene codificador nessas hiperplasias e nos carcinomas mamários associados. O comportamento da proteína HER2 e do seu gene em carcinomas mamários caninos é similar ao observado em alguns subtipos histológicos de tumores mamários humanos, e a ausência dessas alterações sugerem que esse gene poderia aparentemente não estar envolvido com os estágios iniciais de proliferação celular atípica.

Histogenese de l'organe Y (glande de mue) chez l'embryon de la crevette Palaemon serratus (Pennant) (crustace decapode Natantia) ArchiMer

The Y organ appears during the embryonic development of the prawn (P. serratus ) at a stage approximately C, according to Richard's definition (1974). 3 weeks separate this stage from hatching at a temperature of 20 degree C. The organ formation is realized over 48 hours and is marked by an histological modification and a small mitotic crisis in the epidermal tissue from which it differentiates. Its metameric localization is mainly maxillular.

La paguara Chaetodipterus faber (Broussonet, 1782) tiene cierta importancia económica en países del Caribe sur. En la Isla Margarita (Venezuela) se colectaron juveniles que fueron mantenidos en jaulas flotantes donde lograron el desarrollo de sus gónadas. Se seleccionaron adultos y en el laboratorio se indujo la puesta mediante inyecciones de hormonas gonadotropas. Los huevos son flotantes y de forma esférica, su diámetro varía entre 0.9 y 1.1 mm y la gota de aceite tiene 0.25 a 0.35 mm de diámetro. A las 26 horas de la fertilización eclosionaron los huevos incubados a temperatura entre 24.5-28.4°C. Las larvas recién nacidas miden de 1.9a 2.1 mm; el saco vitelino tiene una longitud entre l.1 y l.3 mm y se reabsorbe a los dos o tres días. La fase larval...

The present research evaluated the effect of pronuclear transfer (PT) between zygotes parthenogenetically activated with ionomycin followed by strontium (S) or 6-DMAP (D) on early embryonic development. O umbuzeiro e uma planta pertencente a familia das Anacardiaceas, nativa da regiao semi-arida do Nordeste brasileiro, que oferece grandes possibilidades de ser cultivado em larga escala. Atualmente nao existe plantios comerciais dessa fruteira, e o preparo de mudas e feito por semente ou, assexuadamente, por estaquia ou enxertia. O objetivo desse trabalho foi encontrar o tipo de explante que oferecesse uma resposta satisfatoria e que apresentasse formacao de xilopodio, visando desenvolver sua multiplicacao "in vitro". This study aimed to evaluate the effects of temperature variation during incubation on testicular morphology of post-hatch chicks. We utilized 60 eggs incubated under different temperatures: Group 1 – 37.5°C; Group 2 – 39.5°C; and Group 3 – 34°C. Chicks were weighted and the testes were histologically analyzed. All eggs from Group 3 showed embryonic death. There were no significant differences in body weight and testicular morphology between Groups 1 and 2; however, there was a difference in the diameter of the seminiferous tubules (p < 0.001). The increase in temperature to 39.5°C during incubation causes a decrease in diameter of the seminiferous tubules.
