Abstract: The huge biological diversity of the Brazilian Cerrado is an important source of economically interesting microbial agents. The phylum Actinobacteria plays an important role in nutrient cycling, potentially improving their availability to plants. In this study, we isolated an actinobacteria (strain 3AS4) from wheat rhizospheres of crops cultivated in the Cerrado biome. Strain 3AS4 was identified as belonging to the genus Streptomyces and had phosphorus mobilization ability, mineralizing approximately 410 mg ml-1 from phytate, 300 mg ml-1 from calcium phosphate, and 200 mg ml-1 from rock phosphate. The analysis of the actinobacteria crude extract by spectrometric techniques revealed the presence of gluconic and 2-ketogluconic acid, and a... |

Abstract: Development of strategies to ensure grazing systems are sustainably produced in harsh environments, while not fertilizing them conventionally, is challenging. Figuring out the extent to which dose of inoculation and period of watering can positively influence the establishment of an effective symbiosis between U. brizantha cv. Marandu and Azospirillum brasilense is the point of this research. The treatment consisted of mixing 1 kg seeds with the inoculant of the strains Ab-V5 and Ab-V6 at 5, 10, 20, and 40 mL kg-1, 2 x 108 CFU mL-1. The plants grew in pots watered 2, 4, 8, and 16 days after sowing over thirty-days, twice. The bioagent at 5?10 mL kg-1 enabled the plants watered up to 4 days after sowing to peak the production of dry mass of shoots... |

Rock phosphate (RP) is a natural source of phosphorus for agriculture, with the advantage of lower cost and less impact on the environment when compared to synthetic fertilizers. However, the release of phosphorus (P) from RP occurs slowly, which may limit its short-term availability to crops. Hence, the use of P-solubilizing microorganisms to improve the availability of P from this P source is an interesting approach, as microorganisms often perform other functions that assist plant growth, besides solubilizing P. Here, we describe the characterization of 101 bacterial isolates obtained from the rhizosphere and endosphere of maize plants for their P solubilizing activity in vitro, their growth-promoting activity on millet plants cultivated in soil amended... |

Abstract: Drought, heat, and salinity, as well as pests, are stressing agents, which have impressively declined the productivity and quality of sugarcane crop in harsh environments. Our study aimed to examine the effect of various chemical ripeners as alternatives to enhancing the reactiveness of the enzymatic antioxidant system of sugarcane crop. The field experiment consisted of spraying the ingredients, ethephon, ethyl-trinexapac, glyphosate, carboxylic compounds (MTD) and methyl-sulfumeturon on the Brazilian commercial varieties, SP80-1842 and SP80-3280, before flowering stage. The enzymatic assay comprised the monitoring of the rate of degradation of free radical by ascorbate peroxidase (APX), catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD) and superoxide dismutase... |

Cover crops are essential in recovering soil productivity. Crotalaria is one of the most efficient legume species in terms of biomass production and nitrogen fixation. This study aimed to assess the effect of multifunctional microorganisms on the agronomic performance of Crotalaria juncea, C. spectabilis and C. ochroleuca. The experiment was conducted under greenhouse conditions, in a completely randomized design, with four replicates. Treatments consisted of six rhizobacterial isolates (BRM 32109 and BRM 32110 (Bacillus spp.), BRM 32111 and BRM 32112 (Pseudomonas spp.), BRM 32113 (Burkholderia spp.), BRM 32114 (Serratia spp.)), and one fungal isolate (Trichoderma spp. (T-26)), in addition to a control treatment (no microorganism). The main effect of... |

Abstract: The use of phosphate fertilizers is generally required for normal growth and development of crops. The cost of manufactured phosphate fertilizers has increased drastically in recent years and are becoming out of reach for low-income farmers. The objective of this research was to select phosphate-solubilizing and phytohormone-producing bacteria to improve the growth and P uptake by the common bean (IAC Alvorada) in Red-Yellow Oxisol without the addition of phosphate fertilizer. The experimental design was completely randomized with three replicates and the following treatments: non-inoculated bean plants and plants inoculated separately with seven bacterial isolates: K24, K36, K71, T30, T79, A24, and T22. The previously treated bean plants were... |

Abstract: In twenty-first century, free-living endophytic and rhizosphere-competent microbes have become breakthrough strategies to meet global demands for sustainable foods and renewable fuelstocks owing to their great potential to produce stress-tolerant food and energy crops. Here, we investigate how Bacillus aryabhattai could mitigate water stress by drought in sugarcane seedlings. Briefly, the sugarcane genotypes, namely IAC91-1099 and RB85-5156, both exposed to cells-centrifuged B. aryabhattai suspension at 1x108 CFU mL-1 and non-treated were developed under irrigation regimes of 0, 7, 14 and 21 days to simulate different degrees of soil moisture content. The osmotolerant bacterium remarkably enhanced development of aboveground structures and root... |
