Study to evaluate of cupuacu in an agroforestry system ((cupuacu, pupunha, seringueira-rubber tree, mamao-papaya, pueraria) with different fertilizer levels, in the Manaus-AM (Brasil). Comparing the agre of the leaves, the largest concentration of N were found in the intermediate leaves, and the lowest concentration were found in the old leaves. The contents of P and K decreased with the age of the leaf. For the new and intermediate leaves, the lowest concentration of P was observed in the treatment 30% N. The P contents were not influenced by the different fertilization levels. |

Evaluation cupuassu (T. grandiflorum) in a agroforestry system (cupuassu, T. grandiflorum, rubber tree, Hevea spp, and peach palm, Bactris gasipaes - for palm heart) with different fertilizer (N, P, K, Ca and MG) levels. The concentrations of N, P and K varied as a function of the age of the leaves with the largest concentrations found in new leaves. With relation to the age of the leaves (new leaves, intermediary and old) it was observed that the intermediary leaf would be the best alternative for the plant diagnosis, because the variation was lowest. The highest nutrient concentrations were found in the samples collected immediately after fertilization and the lowest after fruit harvest. This suggest that in order to verify the effect of fertilization,... |

Aim of the study was to investigate the nitrogen dynamics and the fate of applied nitrogen fertilizer in the soil-plant system of a mixed cropping system consisting of peach palm, cupuacu, urucu, and Brazil nut, in the Manaus-AM (Brasil). According the results, annato, cupuacu and peach palm seemed to take up more than 90% of th incorporated nitrogen fertilizer under their own canopy. However, Brazil nut took up more than 70% of the fertilized nitrogen from the fertilized areas under the canopies of the neighboring trees (peach palm: 40%, annato: 25%, cupuacu: 8%) two weeks of the fertilizer application. At the end of the rainy season, Brazil nut even took up more than 80% from underneath neighboring trees crops (peach palm: 42%, annato: 36%, cupuacu: 6%).... |

The aim of this study was to quantify nutrient fluxes from litter fall and prunings in an agroforestry system and to determine differences associated with fertilization. The speceis used are: Bertholletia excelsa (castanha-do-Para), Bactris grasipaes (pupunha),Bixa orellana (urucu), Theobroma grandiflorum (cupuacu) and Pueraria phaseoloides as a cover crop. Annual litterfall in the agroforestry system was greater in the high fertilization treatment (1,56 t/ha) than in the low (1,42 t/ha) but the difference was not significant. Prunings were higher in the hig fertilization treatment than in the low, both from peach palm (1,33 t/ha and 1,04 t/ha) and urucu (1,79 t/ha and 1,15 t/ha). |

In the western Amazon, large land areas nowadays are degraded and/or abandoned, which were previously used for the establishment of monocultures. Agroforestry systems appear to be a good alternative to occupy these areas. In this work, mixed cropping systems involving fertilizer input (30% and 100% of the recommended fertilization) and inoculation with VA-mycorrhizal fungi (absence and presence) were tested on a former experimental rubber plantation. The experimental area was divided into five blocks with eighteen plots each to test four mixed cropping systems (S1. rubber, cupuacu, peach palm and papaya; S2. cupuacu, peach palm, Brazil nut, urucum and cassava; S3. rubber, cupuacu, coconut, orange, parica, cassava, beans and maize; S4. rubber, parica,... |
