The objective of this research was to use the technique of Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) for the adequacy of a tool for the assessment of fish consumption and the characteristics involved in this process. Data were collected during a campaign to encourage fish consumption in Brazil with the voluntarily participation of members of a university community. An assessment instrument consisting of multiple-choice questions and a five-point Likert scale was designed and used to measure the importance of certain attributes that influence the choice and consumption of fish. Abstract Fish consumption is low in Brazil and several factors justify this fact, among them the lack of practicality in preparation. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the relation between the price and the nutritional characteristics of the processed fish products. Correlations between price and nutritional value of 18 different processed fish products were established, comparing nutritional parameters between in natura and processed fish. The results showed that protein features moderate positive correlation to price. The processed fish products analyzed showed lower protein content and higher contents of energy, lipids and sodium compared to in natura fish.

Assessing fish consumption is complex and involves several factors; however, the use of questionnaires in surveys and the use of the Internet as tool to collect data have been considered promising approaches. Therefore, the objective of this research was to design a data collection technique using a questionnaire to assess fish consumption by making it available on a specific home page on the Internet. A bibliographical survey or review was carried out to identify the features of the instrument, and therefore pre-tests were conducted with previous instruments, followed by the Focus Group technique. First report of Myxobolus (Cnidaria: Myxozoa) spores in human feces in Brazil Acta Amazonica

ABSTRACT Most species of Myxobolus (Cnidaria: Myxozoa) infect freshwater and marine fish, and cause sporozoosis. Passage of myxozoan parasites into human feces has been described occasionally. We examined fecal samples from 97 dwellers of a riverine community in Amazonas State (Brazil), which revealed Myxobolus sp. in 13 (13%) samples. The discovery probably does not represent true parasitism as the myxospores - most likely ingested through the consumption of infected fish - were eliminated unchanged after passing through the gastrointestinal tract. This discovery represents the first report of this myxosporean in human fecal samples in Brazil.

In this paper, we present an analysis of farmed and wild fish in Italy using microdot. Instead of estimating a traditional parametric model such as AIDS, we employ Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) and evaluate elasticities using a method specific of the non-parametric framework. As input variables, we consider not only the traditional economic factors but also some socio-demographic ones.

La producción y mercadeo de pequeños pescados pelágicos salados para consumo en áreas rurales OceanDocs

La pesca de especies pelágicas pequeñas es para el Ecuador un recurso masivo el cual se aprovecha en más de un 90% para la elaboración de harina de pescado, usada en la alimentación de animales. A pesar del bajo valor de estas especies, cantidades insignificantes de las mismas entran al comercio de pescado fresco, el cual está dominado por especies con un menor contenido de grasas. A cambio se comercializa una cantidad apreciable en productos enlatados (9,349 tm en 1984 solo para el mercado nacional), pero se limita el consumo entre los sectores de más bajos ingresos, a causa del alto costo del envase de hojalata. La pêche occupe une place importante dans l’économie et la société sénégalaises. En effet, elle est une activité multifonctionnelle qui contribue à la fois à l’équilibre de la balance des paiements du Sénégal, à la résorption du chômage et à la satisfaction des besoins alimentaires de la population sénégalaise. Malgré son importance, le secteur de la pêche est confronté à de graves déséquilibres socio-économiques et environnementaux qui résultent de la surexploitation des ressources halieutiques et de l’utilisation de certains modes d’exploitation néfastes. A aquicultura brasileira enfrenta muitos desafios que envolvem o consumo interno, dentre eles a falta de informações quanto aos hábitos e à frequência de consumo. Neste estudo, foram avaliadas as preferências e as frequências de consumo das principais espécies cultivadas, a partir de entrevistas on-line com 1.509 consumidores. O estudo revelou mudanças de comportamento nos hábitos de consumo do pescado por influência da pandemia da Covid-19, como nas preferências do local de consumo e do local de compra do pescado. Além disso, o estudo confirmou que tilápia, tambaqui e camarão são as espécies preferidas. Résultats généraux des pêches maritimes: 2010 OceanDocs
Les captures totales débarquées de la pêche maritime en 2010, s’élèvent à 409 429 tonnes, pour une valeur commerciale estimée à 142 milliards de FCFA, contre 443 056 tonnes représentant une valeur commerciale de 160 milliards de F CFA en 2009. La moyenne des prix unitaires des produits a subi une hausse de près de 22 % entre 2009 et 2010, tiré par le niveau des prix au niveau du sous-secteur industriel.
