Adding new pieces to the Azadinium (Dinophyceae) diversity and biogeography puzzle: Non-toxigenic Azadinium zhuanum sp. nov. from China, toxigenic A. poporum from the Mediterranean, and a non-toxigenic A. dalianense from the French Atlantic ArchiMer
Luo, Zhaohe; Krock, Bernd; Mertens, Kenneth; Nezan, Elisabeth; Chomerat, Nicolas; Bilien, Gwenael; Tillmann, Urban; Gu, Haifeng.
The marine planktonic dinophyceaen genus Azadinium is a primary source of azaspiracids, but due to their small size its diversity may be underestimated and information on its biogeography is still limited. A new Azadinium species, A. zhuanum was obtained from the East China Sea and Yellow Sea of China by incubating surface sediments. Five strains were established by isolating single germinated cells and their morphology was examined with light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Azadinium zhuanum was characterized by a plate pattern of Po, cp, X, 4′, 2a, 6′′, 6C, 5S, 6′′′, 2′′′′, by a distinct ventral pore at the junction of Po, the first and fourth apical plates, and a conspicuous antapical spine. Moreover, Azadinium poporum was obtained for the...

Faune française de l'Atlantique. Poissons carangidés ArchiMer
Quero, Jean-claude; Spitz, J; Vayne, Jean-jacques.
The fauna of carangids fish from the French Atlantic is given. The number of known species has increased from 5 in 1950 to 10 now. Among, two are common Trachurus trachurus and T. mediterraneus. The others are rare. T. picturatus caught in 1965 has not recorded since. Naucrates ductor and Trachinotus ovatus have been recorded since the nineteenth century. The recent records of the five others, Lichia amia, Caranx crysos, Seriola carpenteri, S. dumerili et S. rivoliana, from 1971 but almost 1984 are due to the global warming of the waters. Faune française de l’Atlantique. Requins .2. Carcharhiniformes (Craniata : Elasmobranchii) ArchiMer
Quero, Jean-claude; Spitz, Jerome; Leaute, Jean-pierre.
The fauna of ground sharks (15 species) from the French Atlantic fauna is given. Galeorhinus galeus which in the past was common in the Bay of Biscay is now endangered. The extension towards the North of the distribution area of Mustelus mustelus, the increase of the records of Sphyrna zygaena and the catches of 3 Carcharhinus and 1 Galeocerdo cuvier probably result from ocean warming.

Managing fleet capacity effectively under second-hand market redistribution ArchiMer
Quillerou, Emmanuelle; Roudaut, Nolwenn; Guyader, Olivier.
Fishing capacity management policies have been traditionally implemented at national level with national targets for capacity reduction. More recently, capacity management policies have increasingly targeted specific fisheries. French fisheries spatially vary along the French coastline and are associated to specific regions. Capacity management policies however ignore the capital mobility associated with second-hand vessel trade between regions. This is not an issue for national policies but could limit the effectiveness of regional capacity management policies. A gravity model and a random-effect Poisson regression model are used to analyse the determinants and spatial extent of the second-hand market in France. This study is based on panel data from the...
