Les glycoprotéines du mycélium de trois champignons phytopathogènes apparentés responsables de l’anthracnose du pois (Ascochyta pisi, Mycosphaerella pinodes (anamorphe Ascochyta pinodes) et Phoma medicaginis var. pinodella) ont été étudiées. La nature de ces glycoprotéines fonctionnelles a été déterminée en se basant sur leur affinité pour différentes lectines. Trois types de structures ont pu être mises en évidence chez les trois agents pathogènes, des structures N-glycosylées riches en mannose, des résidus α-D-glucosyle, et des résidus α-D-galactosamine terminaux. Characterization of a spontaneous adhesion-defective mutant of Ruminococcus albus strain 20 Inra

A spontaneous adhesion-defective mutant (mutant D5) of Ruminococcus albus strain 20 was isolated and compared to the parent to investigate the impact of the mutation on cellulolysis and to identify the adhesion mechanism of R. albus. The comparison of kinetics of cellulose degradation by strain 20 and mutant D5 showed that the mutation delayed and reduced bacterial growth on cellulose and cellulose degradation. These results were partly explained by a twofold lower cellulase activity in the mutant than in the parent. The glycocalyx of strain 20, observed by transmission electron microscopy, was large and homogenous, and linked cells to cellulose. Divers traitements de la paroi du champignon phytopathogène Phytophthora parasitica fournissent des extraits hydrosolubles capables d’éliciter chez l’oeillet l’accumulation de phytoalexines dérivées de l’acide N-benzoylanthranilique : la dianthalexine et la dianthramide A. L’extrait S1 obtenu par autoclavage de la paroi dans l’eau est quantitativement le plus actif. Il contient des protéines (54 p. 100), des polysaccharides et des traces de lipides. Les lipides de S1 sont représentés par des acides gras libres et des acides gras estérifiés, ces derniers contenant une forte proportion d’acides insaturés en C20. Plants are continuously exposed to attack by potential phytopathogens. Disease prevention requires pathogen recognition and the induction of a multifaceted defense response. We are studying the non-host disease resistance response of parsley to the oomycete, Phytophthora sojae using a cell culture-based system. Receptor-mediated recognition of P. sojae may be achieved through a thirteen amino acid peptide sequence (Pep-13) present within an abundant cell wall transglutaminase. Listeria monocytogenes surface proteins internalin (Inl)A and InlB interact with the junctional protein E-cadherin and the hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) receptor Met, respectively, on the surface of epithelial cells to mediate bacterial entry. Here we show that InlA triggers two successive E-cadherin posttranslationalmodifications, i.e. the Src-mediatedtyrosine phosphorylation of E-cadherin followed by its ubiquitination by the ubiquitin-ligase Hakai. E-cadherin ubiquitination induces the recruitment ofclathrin that is required for optimal bacterial internalization.
