Genome-wide association study for birth, weaning and yearling weight in Colombian Brahman cattle Genet. Mol. Biol.
Martínez,Rodrigo; Bejarano,Diego; Gómez,Yolanda; Dasoneville,Romain; Jiménez,Ariel; Even,Gael; Sölkner,Johann; Mészáros,Gabor.
Abstract Genotypic and phenotypic data of 1,562 animals were analyzed to find genomic regions that potentially influence the birth weight (BW), weaning weight at seven months of age (WW) and yearling weight (YW) of Colombian Brahman cattle, with genotyping conducted using Illumina Bead chip array with 74,669 SNPs. A Single Step Genomic BLUP (ssGBLP), approach was used to estimate the proportion of variance explained by each marker. Multiple regions scattered across the genome were found to influence weights at different ages, also dependent on the trait component (direct or maternal). The most interesting regions were connected to previously identified QTLs and genes, such as ADAMTSL3, CAPN2, CAPN2, FABP6, ZEB2 influencing growth and weight traits. The...

Genome-wide association study using the Bayes C method for important traits in dairy yield in Colombian Holstein Cattle Animal Sciences
Rincón Flórez, Juan Carlos; López Herrera, Albeiro; Echeverri Zuluaga, Jose Julián.
The objective of this study was to determine the genome association between markers of bovine LD BeadChip with dairy important traits. Information of breeding program of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia was used. BLUP-EBVs were used for dairy yield (DY), fat percentage (FP), protein percentage (PP) and somatic cell score (SCS). 150 animals were selected for blood or semen DNA extraction and genotyping with BovineLD BeadChip (Illumina). Autosomal information was retained and the editing information was performed using Plink v1.07 software. The effects of SNPs were determined by Bayes C with GS3 software. The minor allele frequency for most of the markers on the bead chip was high, which increases the probability of finding important loci segregating in...

Linkage disequilibrium, SNP frequency change due to selection, and association mapping in popcorn chromosome regions containing QTLs for quality traits Genet. Mol. Biol.
Paes,Geísa Pinheiro; Viana,José Marcelo Soriano; Silva,Fabyano Fonseca e; Mundim,Gabriel Borges.
Abstract The objectives of this study were to assess linkage disequilibrium (LD) and selection-induced changes in single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) frequency, and to perform association mapping in popcorn chromosome regions containing quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for quality traits. Seven tropical and two temperate popcorn populations were genotyped for 96 SNPs chosen in chromosome regions containing QTLs for quality traits. The populations were phenotyped for expansion volume, 100-kernel weight, kernel sphericity, and kernel density. The LD statistics were the difference between the observed and expected haplotype frequencies (D), the proportion of D relative to the expected maximum value in the population, and the square of the correlation between...
