With a seasonality of forage production there is a decrease in forage production in the dry season. In contrast, production in the rainy season is excessive and the management of the areas should be cautious. In this sense, forage conservation is an essential management practice to guarantee quality food during times of forage shortage, in order to meet the requirements of the animal throughout the year and to increase the efficiency of use not to pass during the period of greatest production. The variation in forage availability during the year associated with the need to intensify production has contributed to the use of tropical grass silage. Brazil stands out in the world livestock scenario as a power rating in the production of meat and milk, with solid bases in the exploitation of cattle the grass. Although the use of grazing fodder is a low cost system for feeding the herd, the availability of fodder during the year presents significant unevenness, due to the influence of climatic factors. National livestock farming is based on the use of pasture, which represents the most practical and economical form of feeding for ruminants, however seasonality in the supply of food from pasture is one of the most restrictive factors of cattle production in pastures in Brazil.
