Abstract The ripening of grapes is impaired by climatic conditions due to the prolonged rainy season and thus facilitates the proliferation of diseases such as grape clusters rotting, caused by the fungus Botrytis cinerea, even before the ideal harvesting point. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of gibberellic acid (GA3) on rot and on physical-chemical quality of ‘Sauvignon Blanc’ grapevine. The experiment was carried out in the production season of 2016 and 2017 in Campanha region in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The GA3 treatments were at the doses of 0 (control); 2; 4; 6 and 8 mg L-1 of GA3. Inhibiton of Yellow Nutsedge (Cyperus esculentus L.) and Bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers) by a Mulch Derived from Rye (Secale cereale L.) in grapevines Chilean J. Agric. Res.

Two field trials (Los Andes 1998-1999 and Santiago 2004-2005) were carried out to determine growth inhibition of yellow nutsedge (Cyperus esculentus L.) and bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers.), growing on the plantation row, by mulch derived from a rye (Secale cereale L.) cover crop established between grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) rows on overhead (cv. Flame Seedless) and vertical (cv. Cabernet Sauvignon) training. Spring mowing of the rye sown in the fall allowed for developing a thick and long lasting mulch along the grape rows. Nutsedge and bermudagrass control was 81 and 82%, respectively, and was more effective than conventional chemical (in the row) + mechanical (between rows) control. Intercropping may be a strategy for phytoremediation of vineyard soils with high copper (Cu) content. The study aimed to evaluate the contribution of South American native grasses in limiting Cu availability and toxicity in soils grown with grapevines. The soil used in the experiment was collected in natural grassland with no history of cultivation. The samples were air-dried; acidity, P and K levels were corrected and samples were then incubated. We used three Cu levels - natural content (Dose 0) and the addition of 40 and 80 mg Cu kg1 of soil (Dose 40 and 80). A trial was carried out aiming to evaluate the development and yield of red wine grapevines under plastic cover in an organic production system in Guarapuava, the Central-Southern region of Paraná State, Brazil. The experimental design was in a randomized blocks, in a 5x2 factorial arrangement (cultivars x rootstocks), with five red wine vine cultivars (Merlot, Malbec, Carbenet Sauvignon, Ives and Early Isabella) and two rootstocks (Paulsen 1103 e VR 043-43). The grafted grapevines were planted in September of 2005 and the evaluations carried out for the three first productive cycles (2006/2007, 2007/2008, 2008/2009). High copper (Cu) contents in vineyard soils due to long-term foliage-defense program based on Cu-containing fungicides may cause physiological and nutritional disorders in young grapevines, limiting plant growth and in some cases also compromising plant survival. This problem is particularly evident in viticultural areas of southern Brazil. Grapes grown under warm climate conditions tend to show less color development, and this phenomenon isattributed to low anthocyanin accumulation in berry skin in response to high temperature during ripening. 'Benitaka'(VitisviniferaL.)is a table grape that shows poor color development when grown under a subtropical condition, and the exogenous application of(S)-cis-abscisicacid(S-ABA)is a recently developed technique used to over come this difficulty.

Tolerance of some Grapevine Rootstocks to Tylenchulus Semipenetrans Cobb 1914 in Chile Agricultura Técnica

Grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) rootstock resistance to Tylenchulus semipenetrans Cobb 1914 was tested in a field trial carried out in a pre-established grapevine crop. Tested rootstocks included VR O39-16, 420 A, Kober 5BB, 110 Richter, Harmony, Couderc 1613, Ramsey and SO4. Cultivar Cabernet Sauvignon was used as a control. A soil analysis was made at planting in 1995, and a second soil and root analysis was made in 2000 to assess the presence of juveniles and adult females. The most resistant rootstocks were Ramsey and 110 Richter; the others were similar to the control.
