Coffee seeds rapidly lose viability during storage, which hinders the development of vigorous seedlings for crop establishment. There are reports that seed endosperm is more sensitive to deterioration than embryos, which can be excised and cultivated in vitro. However, a substantial number of plants grown in vitro do not survive during transfer to a greenhouse or field environment. The objective of this study was to evaluate the acclimatization of coffee seedlings of cultivar Catuaí Amarelo IAC 62, developed from zygotic embryos obtained from aged seeds in different substrates and environments, for the production of well-developed seedlings suitable for planting. For this purpose, seedlings were obtained from the in vitro cultivation of embryos obtained... |

The reduction of enteric methane (CH4) emitted by livestock is driven by pasture management, which can enhance forage accumulation and animal performance, supporting lower CH4 emission per kg of meat produced. In this sense, new forage grasses can increase the pasture production (e.g.; quantity and quality) and average daily gain, reducing CH4 emission and improving the efficiency of the forage-based livestock systems. Our objective was to compare the CH4 emission by Nellore steers grazing on ?Ipyporã? [B. ruziziensis Germ. & Evrard × B. brizantha (Hochst. ex A. Rich.) Stapf] and ?Mulato II? (B. ruziziensis × B. brizantha × B. decumbens Stapf) brachiariagrasses pastures in Sinop, MT, Brazil. All experimental units were continuously stocked using a... |

Cowpea is a legume with ample plasticity, versatility and nutritional potential. It is a species widely used as a source of income and subsistence for small farmers in several Brazilian states, among them Acre. Due to the different varieties found in the State, it is the target of studies aiming at its genetic improvement. Thus, as one of the first stages of its improvement, it was aimed to determine the importance and correlations of characters for diversity and selection in traditional varieties of cowpea. The experiment was carried in completely randomized design, with plots consisting of four vase with capacity to 15.7 L, with one plant each and two replicates. The characteristics evaluated were: days for emergence, flowering (days), plant vigor... |

In regions with a colder climate the use of heat energy for climatization of greenhouses can be significant. Beside outdoor temperatures and climate also transpiration affects the use of heat energy since heating and ventilation or dehumidification may be required in order to keep the humidity in the greenhouse below levels which may lead to plant diseases. A reliable model is a powerful tool to predict energy use for greenhouse cultivation. Thus, a mechanistic model including transpiration and energy use for dehumidification and hourly output data was developed from an older simpler model. To be reliable, modelled data must fit with real data. The aim of the present study is to compare measured and modelled use of heat energy. Thus, energy use for a... |
