ABSTRACT: The availability of an efficient protocol for in vitro regeneration is imperative for genetic transformation. Using genotypes adapted to the target region as a transgenic platform accelerates the development of cultivars. Therefore, this study aimed to adapt an in vitro regeneration protocol for Brazilian wheat genotypes. For this purpose, the in vitro regeneration capacity of immature embryos from six Brazilian wheat genotypes using two protocols of regeneration of somatic embryos was analysed. Furthermore, combinations of 2,4-D and picloram in the callus induction medium were tested in order to improve regeneration efficiency. Genotypes with higher regeneration efficiency were BR18-Terena and PF020037, yielding 0.42 and 1.13 shoots per explant... |

ABSTRACT Biostimulants are used in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) to balance vegetative and reproductive growth as well as to increase cotton seed yield and fiber quality. Therefore, in order to study the efficiency of seed treatment with biostimulants, nutrition, production and technological quality for the cotton fiber, a field experiment was installed. The study was conducted at the Alvorada farm research field, in Luis Eduardo Magalhães municipality - BA. The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized block design with four replicates and five treatments (control group, untreated group, Booster®, Stimulate®, Improver® and Biozyme®). Leaf contents of nutrients, yield and technological quality of the fiber were evaluated. The results showed that... |

Endophytic microorganisms have a wide genetic diversity, being very useful for agriculture, for producing growth regulators and making nutrients available to plants. In this context, this research aimed to isolate and characterize endophytic bacteria from bamboo Guadua sp., in order to evaluate the use of these microorganisms in promoting plant growth in yam plants (Dioscorea rotundata Poir). For this, the macromorphological characteristics of bacterial colonies were studied: shape, borders, consistency, color, brightness. Micromorphological analysis was performed using the Gram method. Biological tests of phosphate solubilization, biological nitrogen fixation and indole acetic acid production were carried out, where the bacteria with the best results were... |

Caçari is a fruit tree that is native to the Amazon region of Brazil. The fruit is considered to have the highest vitamin C content of any edible fruit (13.757 mg 100 g-1 dry weight). The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of 2,4-D and 6-BAP alone or in combination on in vitro callus induction and pro-embryogenic mass formation in caçari stem segments in different culture media as a precursor for caçari micropropagation. The experiment consisted of two culture media (MS and WPM) and combinations of four concentrations of 2,4-D (0, 1, 2 and 4 mg L-1) and BAP (0, 0.25, 0.5 and 1 mg L-1). The results showed that the highest percentage of callus formation (99%) was obtained in WPM supplemented with 4 mg L-1, 2,4-D and 1 mg L-1 BAP, and this... |

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of prohexadione calcium (P-Ca) and root pruning (RP) on the control of the vegetative growth and on fruit production and quality of 'Shinseiki' pear trees, under the climatic conditions of Southern Brazil. The experiment was conducted during the 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 crop seasons, in a 15-year-old orchard of 'Shinseiki' pear trees, trained to a central-leader system, with a 2x5 m spacing between plants, grafted onto Pyrus calleryana rootstock. The experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design, with six treatments and four replicate. The treatments consisted of the control (without P-Ca application or RP), two P-Ca rates (300 and 600 mg L-1), two root pruning intensities... |

ABSTRACT Sweet corn has potential to increase farmer’s income. Thus, biostimulants may contribute to increase productivity of sweet corn, being indicated and used in various crops. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of applying biostimulant on sweet corn crops and to establish the ideal dose aiming to increase the crop’s agronomic characteristics. The experiment was installed in the municipality of Chapadão do Sul-MS and was conducted from November 15, 2012 to February 19, 2013. Treatments were composed of eight biostimulant doses (0.0, 4.0, 8.0, 12.0, 16.0, 20.0, 24.0 and 28.0 mL kg-1 of seeds), arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replicates. The responses of the variables to the best dose of biostimulant were... |

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of salicylic acid (SA) application on pre-transplant acclimatization of native populations of tomato. SA is a growth regulator that modifies plant growth and development by inducing changes in cell processes, physiology and morphology. Five populations of native tomato were sown in polystyrene trays. Peat moss was used as substrate and plants were maintained at field capacity continuously. After emergence, seedlings were applied during three weeks with different concentration of SA (0.0, 0.01, 0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 μM). A completely random experimental design was used with five replications per treatment. The growth parameters evaluated were height, stem diameter, number of leaves, hypocotyl length,... |
