| Protected beetles in the Netherlands (Coleoptera) The status of all by law protected beetles of the Netherlands is discussed. Several specimens of Cerambyx cerdo are known from the Netherlands, but all of these are considered to have been imported with oak-wood. Taking the European distribution into account it is supposed that Cerambyx cerdo once inhabited the Netherlands, but became extinct centuries ago as a result of the disappearance of suitable oak-trees. Both Osmoderma eremita and Dytiscus latissimus were very rare during the last two centuries. Only few specimens from isolated localities were collected in the 20th century, hence they are now considered extinct in the Netherlands. | Motmuggen vormen een vast onderdeel van de fauna van de bebouwde omgeving. De larven leven veelal van organisch afval en de mugjes worden dan ook vaak in en om afvalbakken gezien. Het voorkomen van de verschillende soorten in deze biotoop worden besproken aan de hand van lichtvondsten van de auteur in Soest en door diverse personen binnenshuis verzamelde monsters, aangevuld met enkele handvangsten. Enkele taxonomische problemen binnen het genus Psychoda worden toegelicht en het overzicht over de verspreiding van de exoot Clogmia albipunctata wordt geactualiseerd. | Wespblaaskoppen Leopoldius worden ondanks hun opvallende uiterlijk maar weinig waargenomen. De soorten zijn lastig van elkaar te onderscheiden en bovendien werden tot voor kort variabele kenmerken gebruikt, wat tot veel verwarring heeft geleid. Nu blijkt dat alleen vrouwtjes met zekerheid te herkennen zijn aan de vorm van het klampje. Dit is een lepelvormig uitsteeksel onder het vijfde achterlijfsegment. Het wordt gebruikt bij het afzetten van eieren op een gastheer. Waarschijnlijk zijn limonadewespen de belangrijkste gastheer van Leopoldius. | Oecanthus pellucens entering the Netherlands at Lobith (Orthoptera: Gryllidae) On august 8, 2004 a male Oecanthus pellucens was heard along the river Waal, just east of the city of Nijmegen (the Netherlands). Additional searches revealed that the species is distributed from the German border towards Nijmegen and Arnhem along the rivers Waal and Rhine respectively. These observations confirm that O. pellucens has successfully colonised the Netherlands in a natural way and has probably been present for several years. | Carpelimus zealandicus, a new rove beetle for the Netherlands (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) In this paper the first occurrence in the Netherlands of the rove beetle Carpelimus zealandicus, originating from New Zealand, is reported. One specimen was collected on 23.v.2002 on the banks of the straightened lowland stream Hoge Raam near Sint Hubert (province of Noord- Brabant). In Europe, banks of different types of water form the normal habitat of C. zealandicus, with an apparent preference for newly created ones. | Cylisticus convexus, a rare synanthropic woodlouse in The Netherlands (Crustacea: Isopoda: Cylisticidae) Until recently, the occurrence of Cylisticus convexus (De Geer, 1778) in the Netherlands was uncertain. The only certain old record dates from March 1927, when the species was collected at the coal-shed of the Zoological Museum at Amsterdam. During the last years, two specimens have been collected on semi-natural sites. | De provincie Limburg is relatief goed onderzocht op het voorkomen van landpissebedden. De vele onderzoeken hebben in een lijst van 25 soorten geresulteerd, waaronder een aantal dat grotendeels tot deze provincie beperkt is. De brede pissebed komt onder natuurlijke omstandigheden alleen in Zuid-Limburg voor en is in de rest van het land verspreid in tropische kassen en soms in huis aan te treffen. Sinds de oprichting van de EIS-werkgroep Bodemfauna in 1990 werd ze ondanks goed zoeken niet meer vrijlevend in Limburg waargenomen. De laatste waarneming dateerde alweer van 1981. | The two-coloured bush-cricket Metrioptera bicolor, first record for the Netherlands (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae) The first record of Metrioptera bicolor for the Netherlands is presented. A long winged male was found singing in a chalk grassland with high vegetation in the Poppelmondedal on the Sint Pietersberg (southernmost part of the province of Limburg). Recently the species has reached close to the Dutch border in Belgium and Germany. The northward expansion of this highly xerothermophilic species is due to a period of warm summers on a row. Whether the species will settle in the Netherlands depends on the climatic conditions. |

| The diggerwasp Passaloecus brevilabris new to the Dutch fauna (Hymenoptera: Crabronidae) In the summer of 2002 a new diggerwasp for the Netherlands was found by the author, north of Herkenbosch (province of Limburg) at the edge of a forest consisting mainly of pine Pinus sylvestris and oak Quercus robur. Females of Passaloecus brevilabris can be recognised by their truncated and fully haired clypeus in combination with a short labrum that lacks the small distal lobe which is present in most related species. The species is known from several European countries, ranging from Scandinavia to France, although only in small numbers. |
